"Faded ring" around hat crown...
Its just to nice and original to me to do that. Its a few shades darker than the photos show. Kind of grey with a tinge of green. -

You can make out where it didn't fade because of the tape. Just a bit over to the right and just above the ribbon. Makes me want to put something between the raw leather and the hat so it doesn't get ant worse! -

Just picked up this Dobbs Cross Country and it also has the discoloration. This hat has no liner, and the discoloration is the exact width of the leather sweat, which is wider than the ribbon. The hat is in beautiful shape, 1950s judging from the reorder tag. I think the raw side of the leather... -

modern "vintage" radios/ record players
Check out the "radio attic" online. Lots of great original radios, most restored, recapped etc... Some sellers will add an unobtrusive jack in the back that will allow you to plug in your ipod or computer so you can stream music through a beautiful old tube radio. I have one and it sounds great!- tonydi

Repro 1930s Sears Original Hercules jackets; whose is best?
I am sick over not hitting "Buy It Now" on that jacket. I studied it for awhile to make sure it was the real deal, thought about making an offer, got a phone call, came back and it was gone!! In my size too! Anybody here get it?- tonydi

Does anyone know alot about these jackets? They seem to have been made under Sears Hercules, Montgomery Ward Windward and Powr House, King o Wear and now I see a Lee on Ebay right now. Akubra Imperial Grade Campdraft SZ62 For Sale Or Trade
Still have the Campdraft for sale. Its a "small" 62, at 61.5 cm, which is how I purchased it from The Hattery. I have a great San Antonio and Open Road now, but would still like to find a knox Vagabond 7 3/8 and up. Still $100.00 for the Campdraft plus shipping.- tonydi

Has anyone had a chance to examine the "new" Stetson Stratoliner. I was just looking at it at TheFedoraStore.com It doesnt come open crowned, but it looks good to me, and to be able to just order one in my larger size would be great. I would always rather have vintage, but Stratoliners seem... -

It doesnt seem to take much in either brim size, crown height or ribbon width to make a big difference to the eye of the beholder! Tom, would you say your Stratoliner is a "scaled down" CD? -

I'm sure I'll end up selling or maybe trading it, then to keep trying to like it. I dry bashed it about as low as I could with the dome of my head left with no room, but its more the wide brim that I dont care for. Yes exactly!! From the side its not to bad, but from the front I feel like the flying nun! I think I would prefer it if the ribbon were not as wide, but I dont want to start cutting the brim and looking for a thinner ribbon. Also the color is really light tan, and not what I have in mind for... -
