I just scored a sa-weet! Stetson "Black Lancer" (at the Alameda, CA Antique Fair for 20 bucks!). It resembles a porkpie in that there is no bash, but has a slightly different crown. I can't tell because of the softness of the brim whether the brim should be turned up or down. Any ideas? I've...
Is there anybody out there who could shed some light on the Joshua Turner (London) hat brand? I couldn't find out that much on Google. From the looks of the handiwork the hat I acquired seems to be of quite fine quality, but I'm curious about the maker. Appreciate any enlightenment.
Joshua Turner London
Is anyone familiar with the Joshua Turner (London) brand? I did a Google search but didn't find much (thanks in part to an apparently popular country-western singer by the same name). Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I picked up a homburg today; the...
It's not a fedora, but the first hat I actively sought out was the top hat Clint Eastwood wore in "Pale Rider." It had it's own scene (albeit non-speaking) all by itself.
stetson whippet logo
Which is older, the whippet logo on the inner liner or the inner sweatband? And around when did it change from one to the other? And where does the whippet rank in the stetson hierarchy as opposed to, say, the open road? Thanks; and, yes, I just got my first whippet for $12...
stetson open road w/o pin
I recently acquired an Open Road that did not have the Stetson pin on it, which I have normally seen on this hat. My hat appears to be from 1958. Did this hat not have a pin in 1958, or did it just get lost? Just wondering.
Thanks, mayserwegener. I'm not good at posting pics, but it's 7 1/8. The paper label reads "Cod. 114458 Col. 2621 98A000143 58." (Sorry, John in Covina; didn't look hard enough.) Would this indicate it's from 1998?
No, I love the hat. I was just wondering if, for a lightly-used Borsalino, I paid too much, got a great deal, or if $75 was a fair price. I know new they're a lot more, but am unfamiliar w/ used prices. Just curious; it's definitely a keeper.
Thank you, danofarlington. As I said before, I'm not an expert on Borsalinos by any means. Yes, the hat does not appear to be that old. I'm thinking that $75 was a good price for a non-vintage Bors, but have no way of knowing. I know they normally go for way more, so even a relatively new one...
Pics of borsalino from paul's hatworks
Thanks, Wiser Hatter. Does anyone have any input into my $75 Borsalino that was apparently imported by paul's hatworks in sf, ca?
Hopefully I've done this right. These are the pics of the Borsalino I picked up for $75 at an estate sale. Any info anyone can shed a light on about this hat?
