Stetson Refurbishing?
I have a thirty year old Stetson Dune I purchased new. It is overdue for a new band and liner and I would appreciate recommendations of a hatter who can restore it. Any ideas?
Thanks, in advance.
1994 7X Stetson Open Road, NIB
Picked this up 7x Open Road, new in the box, earlier this week. It's a 7 1/8, and just a hair snug on me, but the cool factor is all the way up. It came with the original receipt, care pamphlet and sponge.
Hope you all are ready for a great Labor Day Weekend...
Great Answer!
Now: Which hat maker would YOU insert? For me, probably Adventurebilt. But hey, unfortunately it doesn't look like rain here in South Téjas.
Just In: 1994 NIB w/cleaning sponge, and pamphlet

Just got this 7X, size 7 1/8. It's a little snug, but WAY cool.
Hope y'all are enjoying a great day.
Songs and Guitars
Been picking since about 1963 and nothing sounds better to me than the sound of a vintage acoustic guitar. Learned a lot of good songs along the way, and just love having a bunch of friends over for beer, barbecue and swapping songs.
New Used Used New
I've been into hats for close to sixty years now. Most of the hats I own, I bought new, but I've got a few used pre-owneds as well.
What means most to me about the hats I bought new, is that each one has a personal history for me. There are stories about each one, memories...
San Luis Potosi
Haven't been to your city, but I hear it is very beautiful. Can you tell us where in the city the statue is located? Any information about the sculptor?
Great old Military with Tin Box
I've had this since i was a kid, something my folks found in an antique shop somewhere. Pretty cool, as it has the original metal box. There is a sleeve on top for plume to be inserted, but the plume alas, was long gone when I got it.
Any of you military...
New Block on Stetson Range
Hope these images load. For some reason I've been having trouble with that on Photbucket. In any event, I took my Stetson Range in for a new block this afternoon: a sort of retro thing, they almost got it, but it's gong to need a little work yet. Love this old hat...
Trying again
Okay, here we go again: here are links to some pics of a Royal Stetson Genuine Panama I picked up in a garage sale about fifteen years ago.
It was a little ragged then, and considerably more so now, but it's still a beauty. Barbecue, blues and beer make the blemishes fade; it's...
Ragged But Right: Stetson Genuine Panama
I cannot for the life of me get the images to load so that they are visible on the site. if someone could clue me int o a greater degree than the info on the FAQ, I'd be most grateful. I've some shots of a "Royal Stetson" by John B. Stetson Genuine...
Gun Club Brims
Actually, the Gun Club Catera is listed as having a 3 1/4" brim. I don't know exactly how long this one has been in the lineup, but I first noticed about a year ago. It's in the "drover" style mode, as well, but nicely done.
Best,

Country Fedora
Our oldest hatter here in San Antonio, is an outfit called Paris Hatters, downtown. Think I'll take my Stetson Range (Circa 1992) down there, lose the LBJ crease, and have them put in something along the lines pictured in the Open Roads on this thread.
Truth is I think that...
I have had my Dune for going on thirty years. It has travelled with me all over the country, fished great trout streams with, sat in on some great jam session, you name. It's been a fantastic piece of gear and it is and has always been a great hat. I am reluctantly considering that it may be...
Two Months to Cap Season
I wear my wool herringbone cap n the fall and winter only, as I just never have developed a comfort with the light weight fabrics for spring and summer. I'd rather do a good Panama in summer.
In any event, only a couple of months to go until it cols down enough in...
Panama Weave
Thanks for the advice. I am sure you are right that most hatters don't want to fool around with repairs to Panamas. I feel pretty certain this is a Panama as opposed to a straw. The weave is exceptionally tight and fine, on the order of the high end Montecristis. I wish I could...
