Great looking hat! Haven't made it Ecuador, but will be in Argentina later this year. Any suggestions on where to look for great lids in Buenos Aires?
The Third Man
One of the great scenes: Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten in the giant merry go round above a bombed out Vienna:
Harry Lime: Don't be so gloomy. After all it's not that awful. Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and...
Western cycle
What a great bunch of photos. Interesting how cyclical the Western wear apparel is. It's been pretty well out now since the late nineties and even in South Texas you don't see nearly as much as you used to. This is partly due to the influx of people from other states, and partly...
Stetson Dune
I'm a big fan of Stetson Gun Club collection. I normally wear a Dune which I bought in Snowmass, Colorado in 1980. It's like a Cowboy Fedora. That hat fished a lot trout streams and hiked some might mountains with me and as you can imagine it's a might worn at this point. So with...
Creasing the Road
Agreed a professional crease is likely going to be the best bet. I've been trying to re-shape mine myself, and it's okay, but I can't get nearly the finish on it that I am seeing in some of these great photos.
All the best,

Need Repair for Royal Stetson, Genuine Panama
About twenty five years ago, I bought a straw at a garage sale, for a couple of bucks. It's been through the ringer over the years and it's beaten, battered, but still way cool, as the weave is so very fine.
The label reads Royal Stetson...
"Boss of the Plains" by Christy's
Funny about the BOtP: When I se ethe images of that hat it looks very gimmicky and dude-ish to my eye. More about silver screen cowboys than the real ones of back when. Ironic, because it was the real deal.
Straw Repairs?
Anyone know a good source for repairs to a vintage straw? I have a VERY old Stetson straw - will post an image when I can figure out how - that came to me with some broken areas in the crown. It's a way cool hat, and I'd like to put it back together if at all possible.
Thanks,
C1
Okay, I just found this place today, and I haven't figured out how to upload an image yet, so I'll just have to describe my summer favorite. It's a Colonel Littleton straw, a Father's Day gift from beloved wife and daughter. I love it. It's a great mood hat when it's time to take the brisket off...
