The quiet of the morning is the icing on the cake to go with a beautiful sunrise. The dark before the dawn and the breaking is definitely my favorite time of day. But then I've been an early riser and early traveler almost my whole life.
Great idea for a thread!
Super-singles in this area were once on a surge, but the lack of sidewall stiffness seems to have left them to only a few applications here in the mountains. Still see them a fair bit on long-haul tractors passing through, but I'm not sure what the national trend is?
As far as...
That was a hilarious scene. Maybe not the best scene of the movie ;), but that was a funny one. In fact, most of Spicoli's scenes were pretty darn funny. I can't help but think of a young Joe Walsh (from the Eagles) and some of his shenanigans when I'm watching Spicoli.
Nice find, Brent. Those high-crowned Resistols are my favorite "factory" hat - well made, of the right proportion for big heads, and still common enough that I don't feel too bad "tweaking" them. ;)
Yes, "The Highwaymen" was a great movie - a nice break from all the fantasy action crap that's being produced these days.
Like you, I'm not a "fan" of Bonnie and Clyde, and certainly don't think they were heroes of any sort. You might still find "Go Down Together" interesting, though. It does...
I'm pretty sure that photo has been colorized and maybe even doctored a little further. On blow-up, that sure looks like green gravel, and some of the greens in the trees are off, and the two D-X signs don't match. The margins around the closer sign look suspiciously sharp.
Regardless, it's a...
We always called it "Magic Tape" growing up - it seems to me that it was once labeled that way on the green Scotch label. Not sure where the "mending" part came from, but it does make sense.
Good news, Rick, thank you. I'm real curious to see how the hemp hats shape up. For some reason I can't explain, I've never developed a taste for Milan hats, even though I do admire the work that goes into them. I guess my straw hat expectations were developed at an early age by all the cheap...
I've never quite been able to get a handle on all the different aspects of the CRT "theory" and who believes what. That article, like most I've read on the subject in an honest effort to learn, leaves me puzzled, confused, and with the beginnings of a headache. If someone could break it down...
Okay, Rick, I'm keeping an eye out for your straw hat announcements! A good straw hat is the only remaining hat I really "need", and I'd be very pleased to have one of yours. Will they all be Milan construction, or what are you thinking?
Thanks,
Regan
Wow, Alfred, the hat turned out great and I am pleased you're happy with it. I like that chocolate color. Rick has done a great job on all the hats he's made me, but the Trekker gets the most wear because it is my nicest (by far) outdoor hat. It has aged very well, through rain and snow and...
