I try not to lose sight of how fortunate I am to have what I have. It isn’t a charmed life, but it’s a helluva lot better than so many other peoples’. And I try not to downplay the role of sheer luck in these relatively happy circumstances. No one is entirely “self-made.” I sure ain’t.

Twenty years from now, I imagine such a dialog:

"Hey (Grampa), I need some music inspiration. Could you show me some good stuff from the old days, please? I'm sure, you got a lot of nice stuff, right?"

"Of course, my little, of course! Wait a minute, I bring you some."

"Um, what's this??"

"Huh?? It's for your CD-player, sweetheart."

"What's a CD-player??"

But back to the commercial TV topic.

I mean, It's just funny!
We now have 2025 and the big time of commercial TV in old Germany was over in 1995, THIRTY YEARS AGO!

But that practically correlated to the fast slowing-down "reunification conjuncture".
Companies more and more stopped costly TV advertising because of market saturation.

SURPRISE OF THE YEAR!!

One of my acquaintances in my apartment block, circa 85, widower since years, basically a smart guy, def. not stupid, altogether really fit aside of the old legs, real knowledge about the birdies and other things, worked in the very important medical research and also facitily managment in our smalltown's hospital in and until after GDR times.

But today, I "fixed" his simple Gigaset telephone (like I also have), because he had NO CLUE about his phone's AAA accu batteries, believe it or not!!

No clue about standard AAA accus and Alkaline batteries! HIM !!

One of the old Energizer AAA accus was simply leaked. I just went to drugstore around the corner and grabbed new AAA "phone" accus (800 mAh) and his Gigaset luckily was resurrected.
