eI received my hemp strat last summer. I gave them the size and shape based upon the custom Milan I got from Art Fawcett the year before. It arrived just a tad larger, but has since shrunk down perfectly. It's a very good operation, and they keep you informed all the way through. I'll be...
Yes, I think our old pal, Roman, over at the now defunct Lawless, kind of killed the whole idea of commercial flag-waving. I seem to remember Mark Moye hawking his Aero jackets in front of Old Glory as well on his website.
When I got my Fed IV recently, Hats Direct included two different kinds of spacers in the box: one was the two-inch plastic foam one, and the other was a small, rounded foam tube that winds all the way around the inside of the sweatband. It's the first one of these I've seen, and it works...
When I got my PB hemp last summer it was a little on the large size, so, not having any spare spacers, I folded up some bits of paper towel and stuck them down the back. A few weeks later I noticed the back was curling up in an odd way, so I got rid of the paper and steamed the brim back into...
It's kind of hard to tell the exact color from photos. Is the green closer to the inside shots or the outside? If it's closer to the outside ones, Petrs Bros. offers hemp in that color. I'm considering one in a Strat-clone style. Might be something a little different.
I live here in Mangoville and don't wear Hawaiian shirts, Panamas, or shorts. I had a brief flirtation with the Hawaiians when I was overweight, but I lost the pounds and with them the shirts. Just not me.
Hi, Michael, and welcome. Jeez, in that last picture I thought I was looking at the Irish-American writer J.P. Donleavy. I think you'll find that you came to the right place: good people and plenty of hat info.
I was also wondering if the lines I quoted above from the Gustin page aren't Gustinese for "Yeah, we skipped the final stages and saved a bundle." This would be in accord with the oddly unfinished look of the design, the lack of a half-belt, gussets, bi-swing, etc.
The jacket isn't weathered or distressed, is it? I think the marbling is simply the pattern of the leather. There was a Windward on the Aero "Used" page some time ago in that color that I really liked the more I looked at it, but it was just a solid tan without the variations. It looked great...
I was just reading the Gustin promo and it talks about "the intense tapestry of highs and lows" apparently caused by "the shifting of the oils." Still, it looks like naugahide.
I've always been a little puzzled by leather like that. It's Horween, and when you look at the cuffs it looks fine, but the mottling seems like naugahide. If you look closely at some brown leather you can see a faintly mottled pattern, so I'm wondering if that's something the dying of the...
Thanks, guys. When it comes to electronics, I'm at their mercy. I also found out today that the warranty on the outside unit expired LAST MONTH. The Lord giveth and the small print taketh away. Ah, well, should be getting that tax refund in the next few weeks. Peters Bros. will be getting a...
Really nice hat, and that tweed is a grail-find. I believe I saw it once before and thought then, and do now, that it's really a kind of paragon of the comfy, warm tweed jacket. Just beautiful.
