I really can't say enough for the girls at HatsDirect and Sam at EA. Not only are they super-efficient, but there's always a human touch as well. Nice people.
They're very nice, but I should think you'd need a young, muscular physique to pull one off. I keep seeing myself in one with a pair of my dad's tartan golfing pants up to my armpits. I'm in good shape, but it's a younger man's garment.
Headwind is giving it a shot, and I wish them all the luck in the world. It really is too bad about Aerial: there must be all kinds of snags that we fans know nothing about. Tough business.
I understand that the Pacific Northwest is quite the Place of Depravity (albeit a wet one). This would explain why AF chose to make his HQ there (please note his tell-tale proclivity for sporting that white straw at all times of the year). Typical.
One of the great things about living abroad is getting exposed to writers and artists that you probably would never have heard of. When I was living in Dublin many years ago, a friend gave me a copy of Flann O'Brien's The Third Policeman. I've just finished what must have been my fourth of fifth...
Thanks very much for the photos, fellows. I've got one in the works and am enjoying the anticipation a great deal. I've been feeling poorly the last few days, but the thought of the impending delivery cheers me up every time I think of it.
I can remember when The Monkees tv show first aired and they took a lot of flak from the music critics. Frank Zappa responded by saying that they were the best-produced band in the country. I thought about the implications of that and realized there were a lot of things I didn't know. Still, I'd...
Let's not forget that while there was the Motown Sound, there was also the Memphis Sound: in fact, I can remember fistfights in my high school between partisans. Also, I've seen some articles on the Wrecking Crew recently that I believe were overstated. In one, the author included The Byrds as...
It's always seemed odd to me that the Panama is probably the last kind of straw you'd actually want for the Tropics. Turbulence is one of those areas of physics that no one understands, and this explains why weather reports in this part of the world are so laughable for most of the year. One...
I'd have thought that Peters Bros. were the ultimate authority on the cattleman's crease. Didn't LBJ get his OR's there? Also, does the photo above show the crease before or after you tweaked it? It looks fine to me. Their hemp beats the hell out of Stetson's (imho).
