Artificial creasing, like any kind of distressing, for some reason bugs the bejaysus out of me. It would bother me every time I wore it. I've always loved the fact that my LHB arrived in pristeen condition and that every mark and crease on it was caused by me.
I've been wondering about this for some time, but didn't Lawrence of Arabia have one for his motorcycle riding? That would have put it before WWI. Could be, and probably am, dead wrong.
Thank you very much. This has really brightened up my day. The man does beautiful work and at a very reasonable cost, and where else can you get a Harris Tweed cap with a William Morris lining? All the best.
I keep looking at this hat and imagining it with a slightly smaller brim, black band and edging, and so on. It's the first thing I think about when I wake up every day. I forgot how much fun it is to have a custom job done. Really looking forward to it.
How I miss the cold! I was wondering if you've heard anything from Stu at Ami Chernal. I got a beautiful Baker's Boy from him last year, but he seems to have disappeared. Really too bad.
Bruce is a great guy. He once got a Borsalino to me in two days because I told him that I was going to be traveling in a few days. He's the kind of guy that makes you realize that "old school" is often the best school.
I just saw this morning on Hats-plus.com a new article called the Henschel Packable hat. It's $35.00, is made of "lightweight crushable materials" (?), has "excellent air-flow", and a three-inch brim. Might be just what you're looking for.
I'm a 7 7/8, and I'll ditto what the guys are saying above: go with the Campdraft. You'll wait til Doomsday for anything on Ebay, and even if you found one it'd cost you a bundle. I always think of the CD as a sort of relative of a cowboy hat, and for those of us with alien-sized craniums that...
Hi, pgoat. I dunno, but it doesn't sound comfortable to me. When you speak of the 44 above, I can almost hear the "Ahhh." This style of jacket, along with the Levi's denim one, is made for a young guy and not one who swears he's going to drop 30 lbs. at some point in the future. It's a beautiful...
The next day I went up to the Dakota, but there was quite a crowd, with tv cameras and all, so I crossed the street and went down to the lake in Central Park. On the way I couldn't help thinking that he and his wife probably walked that path several times. It was a cold day, the bench I sat on...
Hey, Fed,
The silvermist is fine, but, given the background in your shot, and then considering your hat, shades, and shirt, I'd say you're a man who's thinking "vacation."
A curious thing I've noted over the past several years is the tendency for people to say they're "going vintage" or "going rockabilly," as though clothing is a costume with which one is going to play a part. We used to call this "posing." IMHO, your choice of attire should reflect who you are...
I think they were the Rand Engineers. Not sure if they still make them, but I saw a few sizes still available on either Zappos or Amazon not too long ago. I still have my Jackson Engineers that I got 15 years ago and wear them all the time but not to work, as they're too heavy. They're the most...
If it cheers you up any, I had a temporary replacement tooth put in two days ago: I just swallowed it with a bite of a chicken sandwich. Until tomorrow I'll be looking like Jed Clampett.
Glad to hear your surgery went well, though.
Question for the old hands: have we ever seen anyone who instead of developing from smaller brims and crowns to larger ones go in the opposite direction? From larger to smaller? I can't think of anyone.
PS - Hope the surgery went well. Cheers.
