    Washing Unsanforized Jeans

Absolutely. I regretted missing out on the SJC offerings some time ago and the nicest ones I've had so far have been the Gustins, so, quality-wise, these are really fine. Stiff as a board, though. I'd say go for them if they're still available: jeans of this quality at this price are really unusual.

BEST JEANS EVER? (Redux) Hartford Denim/Palmer Trading Raw Selvedge 1930s-style jeans FREE REPAIRS

Hi, odub, I'm one of the guys who bought one of the other pairs of these jeans. I'm really sorry they didn't work out for you, but I wanted to thank you for the really interesting info above. I just posted a thread in the "Outerwear" forum about washing these jeans, as I'm afraid of them...

    Washing Unsanforized Jeans

I recently received a pair of the Palmer Three Pines unsanforized jeans from Tweedydon. They fit me perfectly, and I have no plans on washing them for some time, as it's too hot to wear them outside the house just now in Miami. I know that unsanforized denim will shrink, but is there any way to...

    The original "Wild One"

Whenever this subject comes up, I always feel the need to mention Hunter S. Thompson's "Hell's Angels." (1966) the book that really propelled the biker-outlaw into the public consciousness. I can remember it being a hot item of discussion among the smokers in my highschool restroom, and it's no...

I think that's right. Back in the 1960's and early '70's, before Levi's and other companies discovered the money to be made in cheaper materials, most jeans were in the 13 to 15 oz. weight as evidenced by Wrangler, who still produce jeans in a standard weight of 14.75 oz. Gustin has skewed this...

    The original "Wild One"

You have to be careful with Wikipedia as anyone can contribute to it, regardless of expertise. From what I've gathered, "greaser," on the West Coast during WWII, originally referred to Mexicans. In New York when I was growing up it referred to anyone who used a lot of Brylcream in forming his...

THE BEST JEANS YOU'LL EVER OWN! US Selvage Denim, Hand-made Copper Rivets, more! 34/36.

I got mine in record time, and they are every bit as nice as advertised. Bit of a struggle with the fly buttons initially, but I've discovered that a ballpoint pen makes a great reaming instrument for the button-holes. I figure I'll give them a few weeks of house-wear before the first wash, but...

One thing I'll say for them: they're pretty accurate in the sizing - I have five pairs and they've all been on the money. Just make sure you're completely honest with yourself when you measure. I was kidding myself a bit on the first pair and now my kid has them.

    Chelsea Boots?

I've been eyeing these boots for some time and agonizing over the black vs. brown decision. Cheslsea boots were all the rage when I was in school back in the days of yore, largely because of their popularity with the bands of the British Invasion, chiefly the Beatles (the Beatle boot being an...

    Post New Hats Here!

I'll ask my kid to take a shot today. Mine's very similar, same colors of the ribbon and body, but a bit shinier: I've always wondered if it isn't some kind of plastic.

Adding a Pipe to your Wardrobe *Parody*

I was having lunch at a Cuban eatery the other day when a couple of older men lit up their Havanas, which until recently were unobtainable in this country. All the older folks became very nostalgic, talking of the old days.
