Great suit! Very relaxed look. I also like the off-the-shoe look here. I have to admit that I enjoy the 2010s vintage inspired fashions, but unfortunately one thing that doesn't seem to be coming back any time soon is the 'casual' suit.
Ralph Lauren. They make some nice repros, but because it's an A2 which is such a popular design to reproduce- I'd say that you can do better for the money, and you have many options. Aero and Bill Kelso to name a couple.
It's good to see in depth conversations like this about the semiotics of clothes. Of course irony isn't a brand new concept, there was dadaism just to name one movement in the early 20th century, they thought western civilisation was 'defunct' like you say HBK, thought it apparently didn't...
Merchant navy? I was always fascinated with the idea of doing that as a career.
My main superstition is that If something good happens, it is immediately followed by at least two bad things. That's seems to be how the dynamics of my luck pan out. [huh]
Some very inspiring shots everyone! But has this thread become a bit male dominated of late? :eeek:
Here are my first contributions to this thread, from last week:
Btw the braces were white silk, dyed beige with tea. How english! :D
Yes, it's Topman, but a very good looking jacket for the price:

Wow that is a bit of an Odyssey you went through for that jacket. My dad managed a clothing factory in Romania for several years and he told me about the mentality you described. If you want a good price on a custom jacket it might be worth checking with Wested UK.
Great stuff. Very distinguished. I like ladies hats from the period too, very natural looking, they don't overwhelm the wearer's face or make a 'statement', they are just hats.
I'm a little surprised that such 'degenerate' clothing was available in Germany at the time! But then there is no way of fully controlling all creative output in a country.
That brown and orange one is definitely my favourite in the thread Baron.
