Precisely why I prefer wide brim hats...I'm always outdoors and it keeps the sun outta my face and off my neck too. Still haven't figured out how to stop the sweat...bit I'll get it figured out eventually.
Well, I wound up deciding on going with a pair of Calvin Klein Ugilio engineer boots.
All the straps and zippers, plus low profile sole with the returnability of Amazon.com.
Should work perfect.
Same here!
My last deployment to Kuwait changed my feelings on standard travel wear. I might wear a skin tight Spider-Man suit and carry my wallet and keys in a purse next time....ugh.

I see...well, it makes sense to have boots for each function. I will have to look up these "smoke jumpers" and see what they are. I think I am still going to get the engineer boots simply for ease of traveling and inspection checkpoints. Last time I got sent to Germany they made me take off my...
Well, I would like to wear them when im garrison side. And if they were comfortable enough to wear in the dev lab all day and during an occasional lunch outing hiking or at the archery or gun range...that would be great.

Thank you for the info. Perhaps I'm looking into the wrong type of boot. I had a pair of Frye loggers that I paid 220 for back in the early 90s, but they are not comfortable to wear for more than 4 hours. I gave them away to goodwill when they wouldn't sell on Craigslist or eBay.
I certainly...
I agree.
The prices of these boots goes from
Bad quality 100+ to good quality for 300+.
That's ridiculous. Who the hell is gonna pay a car note for friggin boots??

For me that entails setting up comms equipment for the Army in the desert, in forests and sometimes rooftops for point-to-point testing and mesh satellite network maintenance and testing. I go through boots pretty quickly, usually a pair a year. That's why I considered getting the engineer boots...
I think I might be looking in the wrong place.
These are high end boutique boots for multi-hundreds of dollars.
I'm not that kinda guy to drop 500+ dollars of my money on something I'm going to be in the field with. Justifiable when the DoD is footing the bill...but I'm just not that green...
I really hoped to get away from lace up boots, but I'm going to look for those frye rand boots.
Engineer and harness boots really let me down with all the heel lift, lack of availability and mega high prices...
Thank you for the intel gentlemen.
Once I find a pair that fit snugly enough to not slip around too much if I have to run or climb...I'll be good to go.
Also for less than a pair of Doc 1460s...
I've been trying on different Engineer styled boots, how the heck do you get rid of the heel lift in these things while still being able to extract your foot from them!?
This is the main reason I've stayed away from them since the cowboy boot days of 2nd grade...
Without some kind of kick-strap...
