In terms of sizing it is always a good idea to contact Amanda at Aero directly. Give her a bell and she'll be glad to advise on the correct sizing for an M422a.
As for the jacket... Aero's M422a is a very neat and trim fitting jacket so you will have to size up for sure. If your chest...
Thanks for the nice comments concerning my jacket. Just for the record:
This is not a custom fit jacket. It's a standard size 40 minus bi-swing back plus one inch for sleeves and body. I am 6 ft (184cm) tall and have a 39-40 inch chest.
Aero's M422a (and basically all vintage jackets and...
As for the sizing difference: Standard off the rack clothing is considerably more generously cut for the North American market (I wonder why :) )and a T-shirt that's labeled M might fit like an L or even XL over here. I'm not joking. I had that with a couple of basic Lands' End T-shirts about a...
Hi,
here are some pics of my custom "civil" Aero M422a. The specs are a little different on this one:
-No bi-swing back
-Studs instead of buttons for the pockets
-Double layer A2 waistband instead of single weave deadstock waistband
-Less plushy fleece for the collar
As you can see...
Gents, great jackets so far. Although I am missing the manufacturer on some posts.
Ace, cracking looking Veste de Rallye. That one piece back without yoke but with bi-swing arrangement looks so cool! Aero's "big three" look so much better when they are slightly waisted. This should be...
This really is an interesting thread. And I have to admit that the shorter of the two jackets doesn't look too bad. Although it might only work if your whole wardrobe consists of upmarket designer wear. Imagine that jacket being worn by someone less tall and less skinny wearing trainers and bell...
That Alpha Industries G1 can't be too bad. It even has a genuine mouton collar. Although I would really save for a Gibson&Barnes. It's the best manufacturer of current issue G1 jackets in my opinion. If you are not willing to spend a premium amount on a WWII repro from Aero, Lost Worlds or...
That sounds very promising. Can't wait to see some more pictures. This jacket deserves a good website with more close-ups that show all options available. Congrats and keep us informed. I am looking foward to seeing the full production jacket.

Hi,
this really is a great looking jacket and the overall design seems to be a smart amalgamation of a couple of classic timeless designs. The choice of leather is excellent. If you've followed a couple of my threads you will probably know that I have fallen for goatskin (especially veg...
Correct!!
The Stockman is slightly slimmer fitting and maybe an inch longer in each size compared to the Cheyenne but these differences are really marginal. Once you've customized your longer fitting Aero you can call it what you want, I think.:p
Wow, I totally missed that one. Great jacket with a timeless design...and it really looks good on you! It's always good to keep the 1930s design clean and minimal. Fancy pockets with A2 style flaps would spoil the look in my opinion.
The lining stuff is called Gabardine. Not designed as a liner...
Correct!:D
Navin, most countries in Western Europe use a 004+ country code. 0044 UK, 0049 Germany, 0041 Switzerland etc. That 011 country code doesn't even exist. Sure, it's 001 for USA, Canada and others but definitely 0044 for England, Scotland, Wales, (Ireland?) and Channel Islands. Trust us!
Looks like a good job to me. The lining seems to extend for only a couple of millimeters. I had that on several NEW Aeros and it didn't compromise the durability at all. I always admire how Aero use the original stitch holes. I wouldn't be bothered...
Saw "Lucky You" yesterday. The film was so-so but Eric Bana wears a really good looking and trim fitting midweight Cafe Racer:

Oneterrifichog I haven't forgotten that jacket! It's still beautiful and fits you very well.
Gentlemen, thank you so much for your contribution so far. Please don't stop!!
Very true! However, please bear in mind that the 1930 Halfbelt is a very trim fitting jacket. No way as generously cut as a Highwayman or 1950s Bomber Jacket. It's more comparable in fit to a Cafe Racer although probably not quite as trim fitting.
Aero will sure help you out on that issue but...
+1, DaveE!!
I also use a quality pressurized repellant on them which keeps them astonishingly clean and of course makes them water-repellent. It also helps to fight colour transfer from dry denim jeans. It really works!
