I'm on this page... again?? My wife seems to talk me out of wearing a lid by saying, "Oh, you look sooo good already...a hat would just be over the top."
I guess I'll have to remember that one and think twice.
My bro-in-law had his b-day party at a hot spot last night with a group of his 30ish...
Justin, thanks.
AnA nice Dobbs
Manfred, thanks for the kind comment and great pic earlier.
Dobbs as well for me. Red feather, red shirt, and making hot, hot chili for lunch.
Thanks for the feedback, Manfred... nice portrait. Jeff: loved that movie and love your hat more. A'n'A: great advice...Never thought of Black Cherry--Hmmmm.
Nice treatment on your Borso, btw. You have good ideas on customizing, for sure. I wore the tan Stratton Jacksonian today. Probably going...
Stratton being a huge supplier of police officer hats, the colors may be leaning more on the uniform side... Designed for utility rather than beauty.
I may have to swap to brown on this one....I should take the one off my black hat. haha
That is a Cool Tumwater with a ribbon that compliments it immensely.
My Stratton, which I threw on today, is different than most of my lids because it doesn't have a ribbon which is the same color or a darker shade of the hat but still both colors are earth tones. It's a little snug but still...
Growing up on our farm, a hat was standard equipment for outdoor work. I like fedoras for the respect they demand. I also like being called "sir" when I walk into a business or restaurant. I recently made the move to working outdoors again, but forgot the lessons I'd learned about sun...
Great hats, all. A quick thank you to Manfred and Justin.
Prior to owning any vintage lids, I thought Knox and Dobbs were good hats. Now I see why--the felt on my Dobbs is soft and holds its shape as well. The shape and black ribbon are classic.
Speaking of ribbons... after being involved w...
A knit 8 panel cap, I'm guessing, which I picked up the other day with the fedoras. It is not labeled but the sweat is leather and is very misshapen from wearing but still holding up. The outside needs a light cleaning but I like the larger proportions. My wife stole it on Easter and just loves...
Two antique shops--two different ladies said they liked my hat (modern Beaver Hats hat) and that I looked good in hats. One said I should do ads for hats....haha. Loved that one.
I'm very tempted to steam a pinch onto this hat but it would be nice to have the original look...which, judging by the red logo on the liner, is mid to late '60s.
A pretty modern gray Fur Felt 5X from Beaver Hats. Original price inside is $50 so I think this is not old at all.
The black Dobbs on the other hand is old. It is in excellent shape and I'm happy with its classic proportions.
Popped out. The felt is dense and soft. I wonder if it is faded or...
Big thanx to Hatophile, A'n'A and Manfred. Manfred, very nice hat on you...it creates a great profile. Rlk, Jockos, Eric, Bowler--nice lids, for sure.
Lefty. Your photo has an air of mystery...but no doubt that's a cool cap. I found some new hats but the vintage one is too big. I'll post soon in...
