I've handled a pair of Westways in brown and the colour was a true milk chocolate brown. Not a seal brown or really dark brown but more leaning towards mid brown without any reddish undertones. I liked them a lot.
Original-Flightjackets. com from Erkelenz used to stock LL boots. Maybe they can...
Griff, cool jacket man! A unique set of details and the one piece back makes it even more special. Fit is spot on although I would prefer the side panels to be more tucked in (via buckles). The HB has a waisted silhouette...IMO it shouldn't look like a longer Highwayman but you should make use...
Hi Scott, very nice jacket and the fit is spot on too. The "new slimmer you" suits you very good. You look fit, healthy and in good shape! I totally agree with what you said about sleeve length. Better too long than too short! Enjoy your new jacket!
PS: This time the belt fits!
I'm almost certain that this would work. But you have to make sure to work carefully. Avoid stress on seams and use hot water for the spray bottle. Don't forget to wet the lining as well.
The sleeves are a bit on the short side but I don't think that you will have to send the jacket in for alteration. We're only talking about an inch or so.
Simply wet the sleeves with a spray bottle and hot water (don't forget the lining). Gently pull the sleeves to increase their length but make...
HEy there, great pictures of a set of even greater jackets. I love the HB and the Anj-3...fit, finish and details look amazing. Who told you that olive knits might look good? Good idea that!
A set of classy jackets and some nice mug shots as well. Thanks for posting. Those might be a good...
Some A2s were actually fitted with OD B10 knits after the original waistband and cuffs wore through. I've seen a picture of an original wartime A2 that had green knits.
So it's obviously not totally "incorrect"...
Amazing jacket! I love the shawl collar...it looks so stylish. Pockets and lining look great too! The top stichting appears to be very neat with short and tight stitches and they used a thread with a good gauge. I would love to to own that myself!!
These creases and folds can be achieved on ANY Aero (FQHH vintage/new, goatskin) within 5 minutes with a spraybottle filled with hot water. Just evenly mist the jacket and sit down with your arms bent. Those creases are semi-permanent and can be (sort of) removed by wetting the jacket again...
@ bretron: Sorry, no feedback on the 40 contract. I bet it's based on the 38 stock pattern with a couple of different details regarding the collar attachment and the way the zipper is sewn in.
The 38-17111 is the closest fitting contract Aero makes but this jacket is also quite short and very high in the armpit. It should only be worn by people who have the suitable physique for this specific pattern, i. e. slim and not too tall. If you are as tall as Ollie is (6 ft. 4 inches/ 194cm)...
Ask Will if he would accept it as a trade-in. That's what they do all the time. Your jacket looks very good so I'm sure that Will would offer you a fair price for it.
BTW: Looking at your belt I can see that you've lost a lot of weight...but it suits you very well!!
If you should fancy a...
Aero's 30s HB clearly is a civilian design and (at least to me) by no means a MC jacket. No storm flap, no storm cuffs, no warm lining etc. I wouldn't want to tweak that pattern into a bike jacket. I like goatskin for its grain and not because it is relatively (sic!) stronger than horse or cow...
Wow, Dinerman. I'm very impressed to say the least! I would love to own many of them. Some held up remarkably well. Great collection and a very interesting thread!! Thanks for that!
Just get the correct gauge and tape colour. A zipper can (and most are meant to) be shortened. Two zipper stoppers are just crimped to the end of the track and the rest is clipped off and folded under/stitched. Check Ebay or ask Aero if they would sell you a vintage Conmar. They have a huge...
Cell phone. Can't carry it in my pants or the map pocket of the jacket. It has to be in one of the outside pockets. So I actually use the pockets on a G1 or A2.
Of course!! I wouldn't have done it if this wasn't possible. I even kept the original stitch holes in the pocket lining. I'm...
Morning all!
Did this to my Cockpit G1 because I felt that the original bakelite buttons were too small...
-Replaced mil-spec bakelite buttons with larger and thicker buffalo horn buttons. The button hole easily accomodates a larger size button
-Button backed with a leather disc for added...
