The "hat face"?

I was complimented by a 70+ former gastronomy workmate of my parents, half hour ago. He sad, my traveller felt hat suits me well and I really got a matching "hat face".

Any ideas, what a "hat face" is meant to be?

Gloomy, 3 day beard, mistrusting expression??
