Very nice hat, even with a few tiny nibbles. Is there something to tie this hat to Knox beyond the use of the Latin motto? I have purchased some fine Knox hats that were sold through this retail store but not sure I've seen a Knox hat without the Knox logo.
Nice lightweight hat. The Gimbels name has a lot of history in NYC so I looked it up to see if there was a connection. Appears that Gimbel was a Chicago hat making name going back a long ways. Here is a bit of information:
One of the more unusual hats from my collection, Hawes Von Gal c.1910. Stiff hats and straws show up from time to time but I don't remember seeing another soft hat from this company that faded away after WWI. Condition is very fine.

The Gorasgu is a big style - not one I pick up to wear often - but the construction and details are really special and hard to resist when an older specimen in good condition appears.
Early long hair velour - finish is like mink fur. Ribbon and sweatband are replacements - original sweatband has been retained. Very little information, very high quality felt body.
