This is a Model A, must be an early one. Leather looks like competition weight stuff of later decades, not like some experimental leathers you see on early models. Good find. Leather looks good condition apart from the slight fading into brown. I would leave it as is and just wear it. Taking in...
On ebay, you'd fetch 250-350 USD for this, my estimate based on buying a bunch of used Vansons before.. probably closer to 250, this has seen a fair share of wear based on color loss, sleeve creases etc
The Model C is a nice jacket, know at least one member here who rocks one and its a great...
Goatskin will settle in, break in whatever. It will form creases, too. Will take longer than the modern horsehide that is designed to break in fast. Is it going to shrink? No. Neither does horsehide though. So whatever effect you noticed with breaking in horsehide, you will have with goatskin...
Aside from the label, I don‘t see any value in this jacket. It‘s the grotesque 90s style with dropped oversized shoulders, tunnel sleeves and overall oversized look which is entirely out of fashion and the leather is nothing appealing. Honestly, this jacket looks like a 50-100 dollars...
It may be a thinner batch and also, it may just be properly broken in. Most Aero jackets you see for sale have barely been worn because they didnt work for previous owners.
Interested, can you please post some measurements taken of the jacket flat on the ground zipped up: underarm to underarm (diameter of the jacket under the sleeves, so call lug to lug), sleeve length straight down and back lengh without collar, thanks! Most people will want to know these numbers...
31.5“ chest and pit to pit 18.75“ is a contradiction. Is the later of a jacket you own or how did you measure that? Also 19“ shoulders seem off too, that‘s what I get in my bigger jackets and I am 40“ chest, 165 lbs. First lesson here, imho, is maning sure you got your numbers right. Measuring...
Vanson Enfield size 40 and you are done. Vansons leather is made to last, the fit is very functional, you can find them used for as little as 300 USD on ebay. Enfield would be my choice of style for casual off the bike wear, a Model B would work well too i guess if you can live with the more...
You are right, car coat/long half belt territory is what I am looking for. A LW Downtown coat would be a neat find.
If someone offered a Suburban to me, I‘d take it all the same, even though it doesnt meet my criteria.
