Does anyone have experience comparing a vintage USA-made Buco jacket to a Buco M.K.S. jacket?
According to Tanaka, the American Safety Equipment Corporation bought Buco in 1966 and focused its energies on mc helmets. The company imported jackets from England, Spain and Japan. The English-made...
BROOKS BROTHERS HARRIS TWEED
Made in Italy
Herringbone pattern with windowpane overlay and handsome colors
Tagged 42R, please see measurements
The colors in this tweed are instantly striking. From a short distance, the jacket appears to be a straightforward herringbone. Step closer and a...
Taubers of California was based in San Francisco and produced high-quality leather motorcycle clothing from the early 1940s until folding sometime in the early 1980s.
Their jackets were (and still are) considered top shelf. In a March 1981 issue of "Norton Notice," the newsletter of the Norton...
Fresh out of the box. Just wore it over what I was already wearing for quick photos.
First impressions: The fit is nice and comfy. The leather is quite nice but feels a little dirty. It's definitely dry but not cracking/flaking. Pecards is needed pronto. The jacket has a comfortable weight and...
I received this undeniably cool CR from @Monitor today. The brand is a bit of a mystery to us since the label is no longer present. Both Lewis Leathers and Brimaco were known to make colorful CRs beginning in the late 1960s/early 1970s.
I'd like to ask for your collective wisdom and help in...
This is a RARE jacket made for a musical artist who performed at the 1993 Clinton/Gore Presidential Inauguration. Among the performers were Michael Jackson, Linda Ronstadt, Barbara Streisand, Fleetwood Mac and others. There is no personalized tag or other indication of who wore the jacket...
Vintage Sears Leather Shop D-pocket Perfecto style jacket. Circa early 1970s.
The WPL number on the inner tag indicates it was made by Ralph Edwards Sportswear, which I take as a sign of quality. Steerhide with nice grain variation in different panels. I really like the corduroy along the inner...
I've fallen head first down the rabbit hole.
Purchased a used Aero "motorcycle jacket" online. Tagged size 38. Don't know when it was made. I believe it is CXL? I'm not an expert on FQHH, but my first impression is the hand is somewhat similar to the Schott naked cowhide I flipped a while...
This vest was made for an East Lansing, Michigan retailer called Brother Gambit Slick. Circa late 1960s or 1970s and very likely made in the USA.
Well-made, nice quality. Feels like a lightweight cowhide, but I'm not certain what leather was used. It's in excellent shape with nice graining...
One of the zipper pulls completely came off a chest pocket on my Kehoe CR, #^&@#&^%@&!!
I hope this can be repaired without too much trouble/expense.
Any suggestions on who I might take this to for repair? This is my favorite CR and I want it done right.
Thanks in advance.
Circa 1970s. Supple leather of medium thickness with some distressing from honest use. The leather has received a light coat of Pecards antique leather dressing. A number of general scuffs with spotting on the back (possibly from tarmac). A couple of inches of stitching separation under the...
I picked up a 1970s Taubers of California cafe racer. Tagged size 40, feels more like a 38. It's a snug fit, and I'm wearing just a long-sleeve T-shirt underneath.
Then again, this jacket is a medium-heavy steerhide and I'm used to the thinner steerhide on my Kehoe (which fits beautifully)...
I found this jacket at a vintage clothing store. Tried it on, and it fits pretty well!
The store placed this jacket in the men's section. However, as I look at it more closely, I think it's a woman's jacket because the chest zip pocket is on the right side rather than the left.
.....Or am I...
The idea for this thread came to me after picking up a circa 1960s-70s Lesco cafe racer that has clearly seen some use. As you can see, it's got lots of wear and marks and a little damage -- what we like to call "character" or "patina."
For many of us who wear/collect leather jackets, patina is...
It arrived today. Dated 1979 and made by Werner Roth KG. Fresh out of the box.
Appears to be steerhide. Medium thickness with some nice graining along the backs of the sleeves. It has a snap-on collar which is either cotton or wool. That's kinda nice with the temps below freezing.
The jacket...
I recently acquired this but came to the conclusion that the sleeves are somewhat long for me. They would be perfect for someone who rides. I don't ride (yet) and have slightly shorter arms, so that's why I'm looking to send this nice jacket to a good home.
It's in great shape with a little...
I live in an old house without a lot of closet space. So leather jacket storage is somewhat of an issue. (Especially as I acquire more and need to hide them from the wife, LOL.)
Right now, I have a pile laid on a sofa and a few more hanging on wide shoulder hangers on a garment rack in the...
I picked up this Alpha Industries jacket today at a thrift store ($7). Standard olive color and reversible with orange lining. Fits great, minor pilling on the knits. Just wondering what you guys can tell me about it based on the interior tags.
I'm guessing it's not too old because the interior...

Made in England. No reserve on this beauty. Excellent condition, inside and out.
I'm seeking a Schott 141, black, naked cowhide, in nice condition:

I have a size 42, but it's too large for me. I think a size 40 would be a better fit.
CR measurements that work well for me:
Shoulders - 17"-18"...
