    The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. Run, do not walk, to get and read this book. By the way, the Cheever bio is great. I also recently enjoyed reading "The King of Vodka" about the life of Piotr Smirnov.

    What Games Amuse you

    All games--Gin Rummey, Bridge, Cribbage, dominos--all good! Our favorite is a card game we learned in a pub in England called Shit Head--we shorten it to Sh'ed (don't want to scare the horses....). Backgammon is another favorite--there is sand from multiple holidays in our backgammon set...

    Cocktail Hour Advice?

    My advice is always to serve some sort of food when serving alcohol--even if it is just chips and peanuts (olives and Twiglets are my favorite things to serve). Cocktails on a completely empty stomach can end badly for everyone.
