    Indiana Jones V

Similar to the demise of Han Solo, I foresee Indiana Jones falling from a dilapidated foot bridge spanning a 2,000 ft gorge.

Here are some quick photos of my Rands...turns out I forgot about one, the Swarovsky...which makes for six: Here's an old 8X Drover. This is a fantastic hat, thick felt, and will take a beating. It just keeps getting better. Approx 25 yrs old. This one is a 10X Rocking Bar...I love this hat...

    Rand's Custom Hats

It's nice to see an 11 year old thread on such a great topic come back to life! Rand makes some darned good hats. I have several, ranging from 7X to 10X. Today's offerings from Rand are usually either 8x or 10X - 8 being 80% beaver and 10 being 100% beaver. But you can also go 'sky's the...

What do you do when your shoe tree breaks inside the shoe?

spatula ! seriously though...I have an old screwdriver that I heated with a propane torch and bent the tip, about an inch up, into an L shape. I use it just for oddball challenges like the one you have. That 'tool' has come in handy many times over the years. with something like that you...

    Hat Storage

For the ones that don't have their original boxes, I store mine in hat boxes that I got from Hatco, the Stetson/Resistol factory outlet store. Typical current day Stetson boxes.

    New to wearing hats question

I've never used anything as a protective device for my hats. If it needs cleaning to remove a small smudge I just use water...some mild soap if necessary. I got an oil stain on one of my silverbelly hats once...blackish, used oil...and removed it with shampoo and hot water. But as for an...

    Ebay FleaBay?!

I find many a seller on Ebay who have no clue about the item they're selling...especially hats. But it doesn't seem to have changed much in the last 10 years as far as I can tell.

How we might get past the "hat phase"

Hat Phase? Wrong way to wear? Right way to wear? Huh? I've been in a 'hat phase' for the past 60 years and no one has ever told me I'm wearing one wrong or right. Although I have received compliments on my hats..."Great hat"...etc. I wear what feels good for the day and whether or not it...

    How many hats is enough?

Felts: I have one that is my 'go to' hat. and another dozen to allow for clothing differences, outside work, and seasonal options. they all stay in hat boxes when not on my head. Straws: again, one 'go to' hat and another half dozed, mostly for outside work options.

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

My vet is a big fan of the chocolate Rand I wear in cold months. It's a 4" brim, tall crown 100%'er with a styling similar to a Tom Horn but flatter brimmed. I suspect he'd trade services for it if I offered it up. And I get routine compliments on my natural Open Road RD. It's just a great...

    The Open Road Guild

I have both the 6x (Black) & Royal Deluxe (Natural). They both are very durable hats and will withstand whatever elements you subject them to, just as well as an Akubra.
