Here's a short test clip for a film noir short I'm planning. Here I've inserted myself into an unused "Hollywood" film clip that is now in public domain. I have collected a ton of these and plan to do the entire film on mostly "virtual sets" with newly shot footage superimposed over old PD...
My favorite Halloween-time horror movie of recent years is 2007's TRICK 'R TREAT. To me it's an instant Halloween classic, with four separate horror stories taking place in the same small town on Halloween night.
I also try to watch at least a couple of the old Hammer horror classics during...
I'd wish for a moody, noir-ish detective tale set in the Golden Age with the character much as he first appeared in print. His look would be much more realistic and decidedly low-tech (compared to modern incarnations) - along the lines of the Alex Ross Batman, with a simple black and grey...
ATOMIC RANCH is a great quarterly lifestyle/decor magazine focusing on post-war (mid-century modern) style. I have the last five of six issues and am trying to find every back issue I can.
My wife and I just moved into a new house that we are having a blast decorating mid-century style.
Does anyone know if Esquire Magazine's Big Black Book is going to be available in bookstores this year, or by online order only?
I've seen ads to order it from their website, but I asked at Barnes & Noble last night and they had no information on the 2009 edition.
IMHO it's about the only...
Sorry, but not on MY jacket. I've tried those "kits" before to repair leather/vinyl upholstery and in my experience they really don't work and the end result looks like crap. What I need is someone or some way to do this professionally.
I need some advice. I just discovered some mice (or rat) damage to the collar of my Cooper A-2 which had been in storage all summer. The damage is slight, just a little bit of nibbling around the edge of the collar, but it detracts from what was untill now a perfect jacket.
Any advice on how...
My top three:
1. The coffee pouring scene from "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" get me every time.
2. ANY scene from "The Party". THE funniest movie of all time.
3. The welfare office scene from "Cheech & Chong's Next Movie".
My top Three
1. Miller's Crossing (one of the most beautifully filmed movies ever - in any genre)
2. Road to Perdition (just saw it for the first time this past weekend: cinematography ranks close to Miller's crossing)
3. Last Man Standing (a re-telling of one of my favorite tales)
These are beautiful images. Just curious, Quigley, what kind of filters (in-camera or in post) or PS effects did you use on these? Love the tonal depth, and it's a look a at lot of the high-end magazines are beginning to use.
Here's an old promo cover from about 15 years ago of me with my mid-60's Silvertone hollowbody.
My two matching Gretsch 6120s. The one on the left is a Brian Setzer model with '59 trestle bracing and vintage nitro finish. The right is a standard Nashville model.
Well, I live in North Alabama, far from any trend-setting cultural centers. We have at least one theatre in our area that is 100% digital, and another one has four VIP rooms that are digital. So the time is coming. But, I agree that film for final projection will probably be around for awhile...
As someone who has watched with great interest as the professional world transitioned from film to ever advancing digital technology, I have to disagree. Except for nostalgic purposes, film (both static and motion picture) is obsolete. At this point there is nothing that film can produce that...
Found this thread a little late in the game, but the quality of work from our Lounge members is amazing.
I've posted some of my tattoo work in the "tattoos" thread but here is some of my work on canvas . . .
and on Skin . . .
