    Jodhpurs / Breeches

The flare was implemented at a time when materials were not as flexible as they are today. Yes, contemporary police do wear the tighter fitting breeches as do many equestrian people because existing material allows for the stretch/expansion/flexibility when mounting up and being positioned with...

    WANTED - Vest Pocket Watch

Tim, thanks for your response. I have had one other response and really appreciate the Loungers for your support. I believe that my quest has been resolved. I understand that my wife and significant others are going to take care of my quest for my birthday. Rather than continuing this post...

I would refer you to Canterbury Clothing of Quincy, Massachusetts. Canterbury makes our breeches and they are the exact same pattern and color as those you require (dark blue). You may want to go to their website to get some information at http://www.canterburyclothing.com. Another note...

    WANTED - Vest Pocket Watch

I am looking for a good/nice working vintage Yellow pocket watch for my vest and wondered if there is anyone on the lounge who would be willing to part with one or who knows of someone who might have one. Gold would really be too expensive and know that watches are available a dime a dozen. I...

What sparked your fascination with the "Golden Era"?

Just an observation. How many instances of those times have been lost forever other than being kept in our fondest memories. Shouldn't we all take some time to sit with our children, grandchildren and, most importantaly, great grandchildren to share these distant memories to be passed down...

Here you go. These breeches are made of a very heavy elastique wool material that are literally bullet-proof to wear. I have seen similar breeches sold by Shipperfabrik and What Price Glory. Again, the mass produced variants of these breeches fall far short in quality and that is reflected in...

Interesting that you should mention the 3 width above the knee. I have a pair of breeches with that 3 width shown. It just so happens that they are a pair of 1930's fall front breeches with a very wide flare and they fit perfectly. If you wish, I'll post a photo.

I agree totally. Because we are required to wear the traditional cut breeches, we basically have to depend on the run-of-the-mill cut that is provided without any clue of the particulars. We have paid the price for that and it is why I spend so much time looking for well made and vintage...

I have had similar problems with khaki web belt insignias and I have had some success using Photoshop. Try: image/adjustments/brightness/contrast slides to force the dark text out. You will need to experiment a bit. You might also consider using: filter/sharpen/sharpen edges as well...

Actually, they do not. I gather them at the ankle and wrap them around to the inside and put the boots on. The straps are left in place to keep the jodphurs from riding up. My field boots are zipped rear entry so they are very easy to put on and remove. I have ridden twice with these and...

Here is a photo of me wearing these jodhpurs. They are a perfect fit. I will normally wear these with tall field boots. I don't think I'll be parting with these any time soon since they are a rarity for my size and will be well taken care of. Enjoy!

I was taking a chance but they fit absolutely perfect and are in near mint condition. I'll try to post a photo of me wearing them shortly.

alden405, thanks for posting these pages. It's really too bad that the breeches outlined on this page are so hard to find nowadays. The cut is perfect for our troop and their business would be brisk, with us anyway. Instead, we must settle for the repro cut wherever we can find them and the...

What sparked your fascination with the "Golden Era"?

My interest started in grade school, just after WWII ended. I used to love to wear vests and couldn't get enough of them and that has stuck with me. I still wear them with a suit to this day. I can credit my interest to the 30s and 40s to the stories told by my mother and father about their...

A word to men who wear high boots

I agree. However, if you are wearing the tall knee high lace-ups, you should then wear breeches or tight fitting pants below the knees to get the proper look. Not many guys are willing to wear them but that is the only way the boots will look proper when fully laced. It's not a bad look...

If you could spend one day/night in the Roaring 20's/Golden Era what would you do?

I'd get dressed up in a traditional White Tie and Tails and Top Hat and take my favorite other to a nice night club or ballroom for dancing and romance.
