    Plaid Hunting Breeks

Hunting Breeches? These are hunting breeches and are still worn for hunting and just plain being out in the snow with tall hunting boots (leather lace-up or rubber). They are super warm and were designed for hunting in the 30s, 40s and 50s. They are still functional and worn by many in snow...

Nice Fall Fronts Yes, they look very much like private purchase Men's U.S. Army officer's elastique Cavalry breeches although most anyone could buy the custom made breeches in the 30's from most large clothing suppliers and tailors. Ladies in Vintage Jodhpurs and breeches

Nice Breeches! I have several pairs of breeches with this same pattern. Woman's breeches were destinguished by waist (side) buttons and were fly-less. For this reason, I believe these to be men's breeches. Having said that, there is/was no reason that they could not be worn by both genders...

So which era of clothing do you like best?

30s and 40s I've always been fascinated with 30s formal evening wear. Also very drawn to the 30s/40s country look (i.e. hounds/hacking/equestrian wear). I really am fond of the 40s men's suits and shoe styles.

    Pocketwatches

Beautiful watch! I have an 1897 Hampden GF hunter but is not a hand-me-down. Take good care of it since the golden era (30s-40s - Depression era) is about to re-emerge, sad to say. Your son should be educated as to its meaning and also learn from the past. I fully intend to leave this to one...

    Jodhpurs / Breeches

Spitfire - You bring up a very good point. In my first response, I did not get into the reasoning as to why the styles changed earlier than they did. The reasons are complex but can be explained this way. When the British empire was expanding in the Asian sub-continent in the early 19th...
