"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

This show definitely has the most pro-drug agenda on television. If this show were true, there would have been no reason for kids to rebel; their parents were using more drugs than they were! I have always thought that this show was over-rated because it has a veneer of over-wrought...

Doctor.... Who? Spoilers! Really, don't read if ur not up to date.

John Hurt is The Doctor and so is Matt Smith. Mr. Smith is back for season 8. Personally, I love Matt Smith's take. He is like a manic junior professor and is the first Doctor ever to seem genuinely alien. He is just so awkward in his own body. I grew up on Tom Baker and will always love...

    The Preppy Handbook... Returns!

Take it easy fellows, it's just how a whole swarth of New England dresses. Around here, it's classic. No one even thinks about it. It's just our culture.

The Great Gatsby - Remake in the Works

Wonderful quote! People so often accumulate predjucies in life and the suffer the tyranny of obsessive dismissal. We should be predisposed to like and drink fully from the cup that is presented. This is, coincidentally enough, the bright side of Gatsby's nature. Personally, I don't care...

The Great Gatsby - Remake in the Works

I have just returned from seeing Gatsby in 2-D. I forgot that it was in 3-D so I don't know how that difference would have or would not have affected my opinion. A bit of background on me; I am a writer, I am very familiar with Fitzgerald's work, I have adapted others work as homage, and I...

    We Deserve Better--Or Do We?

We're pretty opened minded, but please execize good taste with a universal audience in mind. And while we're at it, we may as well end this one on a low note.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

The direction is also pretentious at times, veering on the incomprehensive. The entire heart attack scene with its shifts in time was just bizarre and jarring. It may have worked in the hands of a more competent director. The sets too appear very artificial. Nothing seems lived-in. I wish that...

What Song Would You Like Played At Your Funeral.

"Going Home," Morris Robinson. The Carmina Burana. Mozart's Requiem. That's good for a start.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

I agree. The drama is inherent as the two worlds collide, but then it can also be cliché. Critics are hopeful, so I will keep an open mind. As a non-fan-viewer I'll watch with objectivity.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

Is the show as cool as it abandons mid century modern aesthetics? I wonder if it will have the same cultural impact? I do like the idea or the two worlds mixing. I will have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of the show. My fiancé adores it and so I watch it, but...

    James Bond: Skyfall

Thanks! The part seems to have Connery's stamp on it. I agree. Many actors' final films tend to be less than their high-points. Harrison Ford seems destined for that sort of denouement.

    Birding - A Civilized Pastime

I don't know, Baron, I can appreciate someone enjoying the hunt of trying to see all the species available in some geographic area, or trying to acquire the skill to differentiate one specie of sparrow from the other; I can relate to that, I suppose. It's not a path for me. I wish I cared about...

    Birding - A Civilized Pastime

We're chest deep in turkeys too! They are aggressive as well. They stroll across the turnpike at a leisurely pace. We also have quite a few hawks lining our highways. I see two or three each time I leave. I'm not at the point that I can identify all of them on sight, but I would like to. Red...

    Birding - A Civilized Pastime

My fiancé and I found a fun and civilized pastime. We go birding on the weekends. All you need are some binoculars and a guide book, or an App, if you are so inclined. It started with raptors for us; some Bald Eagles, Osprey and Red Shouldered Hawks in Ocala, FL, then six Bald Ealgles on...

What pens are we carrying today?

I've had bad luck with Pelikans. I really wanted to like them and for the same reason as I like the 149. But I had two and both were quitters. It was disappointing. Btw, to date the most reliable pens I have had were Watermans and Schaffer. The least were Conklins, Esterbrooks, and the...

What pens are we carrying today?

My Honey bought me a Meisterstruck Diplomat 149 and I am very impressed with it. It writes amazingly well. I love the oversized nib and the piston fill is classic. It's very nice and pushed my Schaffer aside for a bit!

    James Bond: Skyfall

At least very few people in the country know of it! Btw, and for the record, "For Your Eyes Only" was a very good Moore film. It was the most like classic Bond. It was much less reliant on gadgets and much more on story. Bad bad score though. Disco days, what can you do?

    James Bond: Skyfall

Tim theory is that this role was written for Connery in case he wanted to participate in the 50th anniversary. Pure Tim theory!
