Precisely. Light grey and buff are such mild colors themselves that I wonder if they would somehow clash? I think the powder blue might work well as the blue, grey and black are all largely cool colors.
If I was a rich businessman, this is what I would wear to work on my head each week:
On Mondays a nice gray Homburg to start out the week:
Tuesdays I would celebrate my heritage with a black Bolero/Gaucho hat:
On Wednesdays a nice Akubra Campdraft in silverbelly:
On Thursdays I would get...
Thanks for all the inputs. I think it's going to be: Bourbon, Scotch, Tequila or Bourbon, Rum, Tequila. I actually prefer Scotch but far more people around here drink Bourbon.
Tequila is a very interesting idea. I suspect I could even add a salt shaker to the bar's contents. Rum is also an interesting idea. If the first two bottles are bourbon and tequila, would rum have a wider audience over scotch? Thanks again.
Just got a nice old travel (small suitcase) bar. Which 3 bottles would you include? I would like liquors can can be drank neat if possible. I was thinking:
A scotch whiskey.
A bourbon whiskey.
An Irish whiskey.
Thank you!
LOL!! That's pretty funny! I used to have a boss that hated braces. He also felt that if braces were worn, they should be worn in conjunction with a belt. I wore braces (without a belt of course) on every Tuesday and Thursday for his enjoyment...
Have you ever worn certain clothes in a business/professional setting to effectively give others (especially superiors) "the finger?"
I was thinking today of the gentleman that was the director of internal audit at the firm I used to work for. He was a very serious, smart and formidable...
My question was driven by my uncertainty about hatband widths. On the one hand I think thinner hatbands make for a far less wannabe/poseur look. On the other hand I don't want to look like I'm wearing an inappropriate, overly casual/countryish hat with a suit.
Would a silverbelly Akubra Campdraft with a fedora bash match well with a navy blue suit, white shirt and polished black brogues in a downtown/large city environment? Thanks.
I wear hats for protection from the sun and for warmth. I try to wear hats that don't make me look like: a fool, a bumpkin, a pretender, a wannabe, etc.
I think the sort of hat you noted above (along with Irish tweed "walking hats" and the like) is fairly "neutral" -- the sort of "outback" hat...
I agree that far more males wear head coverings here in California than in decades past. Looking at outdoor photos from the 1940's and 1950's, most adult males wore hats and the younger ones more caps. In the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's and 1990's, very few wore any head coverings at all.
Today...
The second church I attend is full of snooties who get quite upset when a male does not wear a suit or at least a sports coat and tie to liturgy -- not that most of them know how to dress anyway. Wearing morning dress would be a way of complying with the standard while also giving them a...
Where does the "ill-fitting ball cap with a suit" look original from? We've all seen it hundreds of times at outdoor church events, graduations, upscale car shows, etc., etc.
A guy will be wearing either a fairly nice suit or a sports coat and a tie. Then laying on top of his his threadbare...
That's a really good question. I would intentionally leave the top hat, gloves, pocket watch and walking stick home in order to make the outfit less "cartoonish" to those who simply do not understand...
However 4-5 times a year we do have outside events that require sitting in the sun. I...
I must say this really appeals to me! Early each Sunday I go to church wearing dress slacks, shined black oxfords, a white french cuffed shirt and a foulard tie -- usually no coat. If it's cold I'll wear a navy blue blazer.
When I then go to my second church of the day, the snooties (wearing...
OK, cool. What color waistcoat to go with light grey flannel slacks and a black morning coat?
Black or dove?
Opps, I meant to say "black or buff." I mixed up "buff" (light tan) with "dove" (light grey.)
So which color waistcoat with a black morning coat and light grey flannel slacks?
