At the risk of speaking heresy, I think that is irrelevant.
The question should be “Does the hat look good?”
If yes, who cares which of two rather arbitrary groups it fits into?
The answer may very well be “neither”.
You can only get so much hat out of a blank.
In order to put it into the crown, you have to take it from somewhere, and that somewhere is the brim.
I hope this is right, if not, I’ll remove it.
Why do people have to look like movie or TV stars?
Why do they have to wear an Indiana Jones hat, or a John Wayne hat, or a Matt Dillon hat?
This is a complete mystery to me.
I defer to your experience, but i’m not sure I’m convinced that starting with the same hat body will yield identical hats.
I have no rational basis for this belief.
