some infO
very nice jacket...a few bits of info with respect...
the cooper you have is a later version made by cooper, which is NOT a replica or civi version, but actual made for the usaf contract...the cooper saddlery, a superiour jacket to the later cooper, was not made contemporaneously...
hearT of darkNESS
thanks for taking the time corky...in the interim i googled turning leather darker and found a couple of things:
1. obenauf's leather oil...a quote from a customer: "My wife has just completed applying two treatments of leather oil to our sofa and we are tickled to death with...
not sO oDD i hope
thanks mr. cork...didn't think my request was so odd...i just like a darker jacket, but have found one i can buy that i love the styling of, but i don't like leather that light
after going to your link there were enough caveats there about dying leather that i think my...
wondering if anyone knows, aside from using dye, what type of conditioner or leather cream can safely darken medium brown jacket leather as shown in the pic below into almost an A-2 or G-1 degree of dark brown?
i know many creams or conditioners will normally darken leather...wanted or...
SCHoTT in the FooT
hi...thanks for the article...as for schott and the A-2 and what they produced for u.s. military personnel on contract...i'd say they schott themselves in the foot
fact is the schott 184 jacket that is shown above in a link to an alleged schott A-2, is definitely NOT an...
rolex is not God
no bellytank, the myths about rolex are that they are some 'ideal' that has somehow transmogrified into the material world from on high
fact is, they have great quality control so you don't see any flaws usually, but i've seen many chinese-made watches that may not have the...
vote for selling it
must say that from the numerous pix i've seen of actual ww2 luftwaffe pilots, the fit of your jacket is how they actually wore them
but in the same breath i must add that it looked bad on them...not sooo bad on you, but still not the right fit for modern times
but even...
iT's hEEEEEEEEEEEEERE...
wow, all the comments...fun...even the one's questioning my saNity and capitaLization (i was a former political cartoonist and this waY of capitalizing is a holdover from doing that)
anyway...i was mightily surprised at this jacket. it was purchased just as a...
my jacket is...
the spiewak is the same one you see here...not the exact same one, same production model, pattern, cut, etc...same colour, goat...
you need to buy it;D
aNSWERS...
thanks james, sorry it's a size or two too small...
BUT RIKBB...this may fit you...i just sold a schott actual milspec A-2 from the 80s and it was only 24.25" in the back whereas the SPIEWAK is another 3/4" in the back, the standard size for most older A-2s...so that helps there...
spiewaK
well, i am very oDD ;D
but i am going to letter abuse anonymous.
howevah, i am putting my spiewak up for sale...i'll put a posting in fedoralounge classifieds probably by end of day today.
happy Thanksgiving and rest of the year to all...
i mean, to aLL
miSread...
mark from aero apparently miSread my comment, and took it as an 'FU' to AERO...
sorry mark, you're a great guy but you misread the comment...it was an FU to the OTHER companies that make 3-piece backs to save money...if you carefully read the comment you'll see i mentioned AERO...
pLease coLoneL...
...it's PVC...poly vinyl...not rubber
as kurtz sent himself up the river for his own penitence, i'll admit, the horror of my life is that i'm a vegetarian who has a fetish for leather military and motorcycle jackets
so how could i turn this thing down...i'll go without bud...
the hoRRor...the hoRRor...
you are correct sir.
i wouldn't buy a new hyundai. but for $1000 i might get one.
we all make compromises.
except you, Kurtz. you never compromised.
well, of course not...howevahhhhhh...
i search ebay for watches and motorcycle jackets like a shark must swim to keep breathing...
so, having spent my budget for expensive decent to high quality leather jackets, several times over if the truth be known, i went sLumming for something cheap...
yes...yES...YESSS!!!
i have the precursor to the 135 listed in the classified section...it was a 681 schott and was discontinued in 1995...the only difference between it and the 135 is the back, which is the less expensive to construct 3-piece back on the current 135 versus the 681's famed...
22222222222222222222 cents
another 2 cents...as said, gibson and barnes are down there, and are top of the line jackets, and only about 10 percent higher in price...and g and b backs up their quality...i'd head straight to their showroom
if you order over the phone, you'd need to give them...
here we go again...another SCHOTT Highwayman/Luftwaffe style jackets, size 48, new old stock worn several times only, 1-piece back. it's a #681, not made any more, replaced by the #135 that is the same EXCEPT the 135 has a 3-piece back...so this is rare, and MiNT...on 'the bay'...
