Alpaca question
Nor did I and had 3 of mine relined by Aero ( sold 2 VDR's on that were the same ) .... Tartan, Cotton Drill and Shearling were the replacements all much comfier. It's strange stuff because it feels soft yet has that scratchy / itchy feel when worn like a hair shirt. I've avoided Alpaca...- Plumbline

Does anyone else equate currency with its jacket equivalent?
As a student I ( and a few of my peers) measured price in "Pints" ..... one pint being 56p in the Union Bar. It is interesting that if one uses this exchange rate a gallon of petrol is still the same price in Pints as it was in 1984. As an aside an Aero Highwayman was @200 pints .... a Schott...- Plumbline

New Langlitz Cascade in Black Goatskin w/ Brown Stitching
Very nice .. and a great choice of hide ( easilly as strong re sheer and abrasion resistance as cowhide twice as thick ... so the same protection for half the weight and restriction). Is Rayon a good lining for later spring, summer etc?
Perhaps we Glaswegians only holiday in a bed and breakfast in Saltcoats and only travel as far as a British Rail 2nd class retrun ticket can take us ( or as far a a std. thermos flask will keep the tea warm ) ! Horween Chromexcel Steer
Yes and No.... the grade and materials are the same (CXL Steerhide) ... but the colours are subtley different in anything other than Black. Details as far as I am aware are as follows : Grade - CXL Steerhide ( this has a std. graded thickness between 1.5 and 3oz ( from Nick at Horween))...- Plumbline

Is Rayon a good lining for later spring, summer etc?
Rayon has been used in USN Leather ( goatskin jackets) for decades (G-1. M422a, AN6552 ) ..... My Eastman G-1 was lined in Bemberg Rayon, my Aero's and the BK are Rayon but I have no idea the manufacturer. I haven't found it to be sweaty or uncomfortable in any way in any of mine ( summer...- Plumbline

New member who needs some advice (likes Aero)
I've got a LHB ( Long Half Belt) in MWHH and it's soft as a very sof thing ... I really rate it 2oz and lovely to wear no stiffness at all. I've got 2 aero goat jackets M422a and AN6552 ... again the goat is a little stiffer now but still 10x more pliable than FQHH even when new. Top material...- Plumbline

Horween black CXL FQHH
Hi Bunyip .. yes it will. It is not struck through and the base hide is dark brown. Depending on the finish this may happen quickly ( several months - tumbled / vintage to a couple of years - std CXL )- Plumbline

repairs to my 1944 Denison Smock
So repairs have been done .... by "Mike The Stitch" one of the few genuine "master tailors" :) repairs were : 1. Replacement pocket flap 2. Repair to back 3. Replacement cuff buttons with Denison replacements ( I may replace the eppaulette buttons but they ar fine for now) Original...- Plumbline

Looks GREAT John .. I've had a few of the old Aero ones and they always came in a little long and quite big in the collar ..... thoughts on this ???
