My Question: I'm looking at what might be my first ebay acquisition. I'm wondering why the price is staying so comparatively low on the "Vintage Dobbs West Hat 7 1/4 Beige 2X Felt Mens Western Cowboy Hat, Dobbs Box." Not that I think I've found a unicorn or anything, but is this a nasty hat...
I too am awaiting a Fed IV from The Hattery. Mine is in black. In the same order is a moonstone Camp Draft Deluxe. They should be here Thursday/Friday.
There's the issue of the Stylemaster being a factory-creased hat, which makes the comparison more difficult for me. (Wouldn't it be nice to see a Stylemaster with an open crown?) That said, I would agree that the Stylemaster's crown is shorter with more of a taper than the Camp Draft.
I got...
1st: Stylemaster in Carbon Grey (DM)
2nd: Bushman in Moonstone (DM)
3rd: Bushman in Nullarbor Tan (DM)
4th: Camp Draft in Silver Belly (Everything Australian)
5th: Camp Draft in Bluegrass Green (Everything Australian)
Next Time I'm at DM (maybe later this week): Adventurer in Moonstone...
I was a bit hesitant about the bashing of my new Camp Draft when it arrived about 10 days ago. I patiently repeated my dry-bash several times per day for almost a week before the felt "took" the crease and held it for about 18 hours without relaxing. Only then did I put some steam to it, and...
This is the first time my eyes have seen silver belly outside a computer monitor for years. My CD is a creamy off-white, with a definite tan shade to it. The color reminds me of a good cup of coffee with too much cream in it. Hope that helps.
The Camp Draft in Silver Belly arrived from Down Under today. Ordered on Sunday and arrived in Seattle on Thursday. I'm wearing it around to shape the sweat before I put a steam-bash on it. But I couldn't help but give it a couple of shapely curves here and there, for fun .
I've posted once or twice with a couple of pics, but I thought I'd better introduce myself. I'm Steve from the Seattle area, known on forums as Boomerang.
My grandfather gave me one of his worn-out hats when I was 10 years old. It was nothing like my red straw cowboy hat, or my baseball cap...
I love the images in this thread. May have to borrow a better camera and get a moody shot of my favorite lid artistically situated on one of my drum kits. You folks have inspired me!
Sorry for my delay in providing pics. I haven't been a member of a forum for a few years and my photo posting skills are out of date. That said, you got a glimpse of the Moonstone Bushman above, so I thought I'd show the NT as well.
You caught me before I could properly introduce myself to the folks in the Lounge, but I'd like to say that I have 2 Akubra Bushmen, one in Moonstone and one in Nullarbar Tan, both bashed with a cattleman's crease.
