    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I had been meaning to ask you whether it was still WP weather in the Mid-South. Here it still is, except for the past two days, but it returns I am very happy to say from tomorrow!

Is anyone else following the Six Nations Rugby?

That’s a marvellous story. When you say you don’t follow sport, is that simply because you are not interested, or because you were turned off it as a schoolboy?

Is anyone else following the Six Nations Rugby?

It was quite pedestrian, but Ireland are a good team. I shall be happy to see them triumph as I have been an Irish passport holder since 2016.

Is anyone else following the Six Nations Rugby?

Your ethnic heritage is identical to mine, Brer Fox. Our loyalties are divided, but we are also spoiled for choice.

Is anyone else following the Six Nations Rugby?

Are any of you chaps following the Six Nations Rugby? Incidentally, a question for Americans: why do you call a Rugby player a ‘Rugger’? We use the term ‘Rugger’ only as an affectionate nickname for Rugby Union.

Is your sartorial choice anything to do with the Rugger? Arans and fisherman’s sweaters are great and I have a few of them, but I am addicted to WPs I’m afraid! Still wearing RN today - the full works this time - patches, epps, pen pocket.

For a moment, Brer Fox, I thought that was a Surrealist poem. We are of course living in surreal times. It has been a good day for wearing a Royal Navy Woolly Pully.

My place or yours, old chap? One place is a real city; the other is an overpriced village in the Fens. I am joking of course. Both of England’s great universities are excellent. Plus the London School of Economics and Imperial College for sciences.

Were you a Cambridge man? I was at The Other Place.

Absolutely. And it’s worth noting the solitary Rifle Green standing out among the myriad Olive Drabs. It has inspired me to wear my Rifle Green again.

A fine bunch of chaps. Gurkha recruits, Nepal, 2023.

A man after my own heart. … Congratulations on your prefect sartorial choice.

I wore my Royal Navy roll neck the other day as a change from WPs (aka Commandos). Also today my Navy Guernsey. Back to RN WP tomorrow I think.

I have also made good use of my WPs - over the past few weeks - and am continuing to do so!

This time of year can (underlined several times) be the best time of year in London and SE England when the days are crisp, bright and cold and there is a light frost overnight. The same is true of early spring and late autumn (Fall for you chaps).

It remains perfect WP weather and I have worn one every day this month! I see that there is a big freeze in large areas of the US, including Tennessee.

Happy New Year @Peacoat. WP weather here too. And the turn of the Black WP (Royal Tank Regiment!) today.

Perfect. You make a cold sound almost enjoyable, Brer Fox.
