    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Dan, I'll try to break it down as best i can - I have owned or at least handled many of the major brands available. Chippewa - These are worth about $200, but not more. Build quality is what you would expect for the price, and I believe they are still made in the USA. The pair I owned...

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Ky, Thanks for the advice. The price I saw was tempting, but the build quality looked a little rough, and the leather didn't look nice enough for what 2268's normally cost.

question about red wing iron rangers

William Lennon's Derby boots are leather lined in the vamp, and adding leather linin to e upper costs about 10 pounds per boot. The price of the boots is similar to the Iron Rangers. http://www.williamlennon.co.uk/footwear/78ptc-mens-traditional-leather-derby-boot.html

Cowboy boots that are too wide

Insoles raise your foot inside the boot - when your foot pushes up on the instep, it pulls the sides inward. Width of a boot is more about circumference than it is about what we normally think of a horizontal "width".

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Do any of you own recently made Red Wing 2268's? I saw a good deal on a new pair not long ago, but the leather on the new one's looks like thick vinyl, and they look kind of plasticky overall. Does the leather break in and look nicer? I would love to own the classic, but I am nervous pulling...

    William Lennon spec boots

Wow Simon, those look fantastic! How did you get those great matching half soles and heels? Do you mind me asking how much they cost with the options you ordered? Are the WWII boots similar to the derby but I without the cap toe?

    Chippewa's Archival boots line

I like the idea of these boots, but I am pretty sure all they did was take existing boots that they make, changed the leather and a few soles, and tacked $100 or more onto the price. The engineer boots in particular look exactly like their standard engineer boot that you can buy for around...

    Aero 50s Halfbelt

Yeah, I can't speak to the historical accuracy of this feature - I just like it personally. Then again, I am not really a huge stickler for historical accuracy.

    Aero 50s Halfbelt

The adjustment straps are kind of narrow - two straps per side nicely matches the width of the belt around the back. It's just a style preference.

    Aero 50s Halfbelt

I am really happy to see these fit pics. The jacket fits you much better than it ever fit me. It's amazing how much my understanding of proper fit has changed in the last few years. When I originally received this jacket, I thought it was a perfect fit on me. Now, a few years later, I know...

Vanson PLU-3 Comet with custom features and Brown Competition weight leather, 44-46

Hey all - I have an almost new Vanson PLU-3 up for sale. I received this custom order a few months back, but I have decided to go another direction. This jacket has been worn less than ten times since I bought it - probably more like five. Other than a few light creases in the arms it is...

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Congrats Boyo! Those Road Champs should be fantastic. I have a pair of the RRL engineers made by Julian (who makes the Road Champ) and the construction is extremely impressive. The leather is very thick, yet supple, and the details are just right. The Road Champs are a different style, bu...

They must be really worried about pissing off a big customer. It's too bad that option isn't available in the states. I personally don't like them with the pointier toe, but a lot of people do.

Kyboots - I sent you a PM. I couldn't find and email address. Bretron - I thought you'd get a kick out of this - I came across an eBay seller who is selling multiple sizes of virtually the same Wescos that you ordered. Check it out...

KYboots - I am tempted to let go of my original brown pair... hmmmmm... Bretron - I have never had a pair of semi-dress, so I can't comment on the fit. I have owned Smoke Jumpers, and the fit of the Nomads is the same.

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Darn this thread! I just placed an order for another pair of Nomads! I have been itching to order a really traditional black pair, and I finally broke down and made the order with Baker's. To be fair, the specs are exactly the same as my distressed pair, but these will be black. They should...

Please Explain High End Selvedge Jeans to Me

All, Thanks for this informative thread. While the comments have gotten pretty heated, I feel like I have learned a lot. I think there are a LOT of us that don't know much about Selvedge - I wouldn't consider a thread like this trolling at all. As for me, I have worn standard department...
