    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Wow! Those look incredible Brian! I may have to send some work your way - I love the stitched and riveted midsoles and the combo of the Biltrite and Cat's Paw soles and heels.

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

Agreed - those look good Kyle. I like where the finish has worn off on the toes. If it hey wee mine,a I would forgo polishing them and just treat them with neutral colored conditioner/oil/grease. Is at a standard height heel or did you remove a lift?

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

Karl - yes, they have the celastic toe, it's just a bit more sleek than a Wesco Boss Toe. I am the minority around here in that I prefer a celastic toe in my boots. I like a bit of a modern/vintage hybrid.

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

Univibe - thanks for the advice. I actually havea pair of White's Nomad's with the "Distressed Smooth" leather option. They turned out nice - it's definitely a dry leather though. Chromexcel is much oilier/waxier/ richer in general. I have been pleased with my pair, but I think I stilll need...

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

Highvoltage - I can't believe your toes aren't destroyed from being kneeling / crawling on concrete - that's incredible. I should post a picture of my steel toed Dr. Marten work boots for comparison (although I know the steel toe is a contributing factor). I have been meaning to ask - are...

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

It's a tough choice. Personally,a I think Wesco may finally get some more of my business - White's has literally stolen my business from Wesco for my last THREE orders. I have always wanted a nicer brown leather from Wesco, and in general I have wanted a tougher/thicker version of something...

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

That's fantastic! I will have to email Kyle about it and bug him. I am hoping that White's loosens up on the options for both the lace ups and the Nomads (I am going to get my two-tone Nomads eventually!) I just wish I had the funds right now - been funneling money into the guitar habit...

Bretron - where did you hear that? I've really wanted to try the Biltrite stuff. I like the Cat's Paw, but I heard they wear down quickly.

FS: (Relisted) Boulet western boots and Red Wing boots

By the way, if you have never heard of Boulet boots, you should. They are beautifully crafted, and as good or better than any western boot I have ever owned. If these were my size it would be a sore temptation.

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

Looks like Highvoltage beat me to it on posting those pics - as you can see, his progression from new to well used is very thorough. I think his pair is one of the best examples I hace seen of a pair of boots that have developed a "pleasing patina" without crossing the line into "beat to shit"...

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Bunyip - I think we discussed what White's is willing to do as two-tone Nomads are concerned - they will only do a very basic version with everything up top one color and everything on the bottom another color. Well, I was just cruising eBay today, and I came across a pair that was up for...

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Dickie - Thanks for this! I think this pushed me over the edge to start a new Wesco order.... crap. I have wanted a proper two toned pair for years, and I think this new brown looks lighter in color and a lot richer than the old brown. I am thinking New Chrome brown on everything but with a...

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

I'll probably get flamed for this: Chromexcel is so soft and pliable that I can't help but think of it better suited to a jacket than to a pair of boots. Just my opinion, and admittedly, I have not yet ponied up for a pair of Chromexcel boots, so it's not even an educated opinion. The...

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Is the new brown leather a full 7-8oz thickness, or is it thinner like Black Tie? My one complaint with Wesco is that their standard brown leather is not very rich in color - it's very dark. It is very supple and is still excellent leather, but not much to look at. Congrats on the new order!

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

I have met the guy that owns those boots at a knife show. They are in fact natural Chromexcel. He is a member of a knife forum I frequent, and he has posted a bunch of pictures showing the progression from brand new to what you see in the picture above. He wears those to work as an electrical...

Bunyip - I just cleared out my box. Let me know if you still have any questions.

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

I will add a little advice. The Chippewa "Crazy Horse" leather is similar to White's "Distressed" leather. This leather is very dry - a coating of good boot oil will do a lot of good for it. It will significantly change the color, but the change is only temporary. In about 2-3 days the...

    Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

A soft toe is just that - the thick boot leather with no reinforcement. It is shaped over the last when the boots is made, and can be a little stiff if the leather is stiff. However, soft toes generally collapse easily. Steel toes tend to be a little obit bulbous and rounded. They can...

Feet Up! The Work Boot Thread

I am shocked that people find the Iron Rangers hard to break in. Th leather is much softer than the standard leather from White's / Wesco /Nick's. Actually, the soft leather has been the main reason I haven't bough a pair myself. I keep wanting a pair, but from what I've seen, the soft...

Thanks all - she is really amazing, although I can't imagine doing this if you didn't want it. We really tried to prepare, but caring for a newborn is truly one of those things that you don't understand until you experience it. We are tired but extremely happy. Sorry to derail the thread so...
