We had a white Christmas here. Lily and Hubby had a snowball fight. She is not a gracious loser. (Yes, that is a pink rainbow unicorn hat. The result of having a crafty mama.)
We had citrus-herb brined turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, cornbread dressing, roasted sweet potatoes with butter, cinnamon and brown sugar, butter sautéed green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, olives, pickles. Choice of pumpkin or apple pie for dessert.
This was Hubby's first go-round.
Made Hubby a huge pot of Texas red. He'll be enjoying leftovers for lunches for a while.
I had a large salad. Lily ate leftover tomato soup (made with heavy cream).
A tablespoon of sugar for two cups of dry ingredients is an ok ratio (1 1/2 t. per cup). This had a teaspoon or so on top of each muffin. Like they were going for a sugar crackle top.
Last night we went to my sister's 50th birthday party. They had barbecue catered for the dinner. Chicken & ribs were okay, brisket needed less fat cap and about 6 more hours of slow-n-low. They put sprinkles of sugar on top of the corn muffin. Yikes! Definitely not Texas style!!
Thursday night: take out pad Thai from our favorite local restaurant.
Friday night: chicken-bacon-cheese filled pasta in homemade Alfredo sauce, broccoli.
Saturday: pork bahn mi burger (ground pork, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, lime juice, sambal, cilantro mixed together, formed into patties...
