She's my only, so I know I get one chance at these memories. :( I miss my little one, too. She is less than 1/2" from being my height, and not cuddly at all. So different.

What coffee or tea did you drink today?

I am a Lady Gray daily drinker (insulated cup at work, carried with me from classroom to classroom), and my 'fancy' tea is Harney & Sons Tower of London blend. Hubby bought me a tin of it for Christmas.

Lily told me she didn't want to go to see Santa this year. I told her that the Santa visits were about making some of my favorite memories of her growing up for me. We compromised, and she chose her own outfit (instead of wearing a fancy dress picked by me), and didn't have to sit on his lap...

First day of 7th grade (with glasses!), and almost as tall as her Mama.

I'm so sorry for your loss. She looks so happy in the photo. Treasure that memory.

An interesting perspective I'd not considered. And now the tears flow again. He was always my protector, unless he was my tormentor. Typical big brother. "You can't pick on her - she's my baby sister to pick on!!" I'd been told that the hearing is the last of the senses to go, so maybe he...

We did make a lot of memories. It is as though he knew he wouldn't hang around too long with us. :(

Thanks. This is my first immediate family loss. We knew it was coming for years, but did not expect it. He was a diabetic that didn't take good care of himself. I don't think he even knew how sick he was.

We lost Hubby's momma in early December (Influenza B turned to pneumonia- waited too long to get medical help), but we were able to get him on a same-day flight to Texas so he could be there to hold her hand at the end. Lily & I were on speakerphone with him & Lily was able to say goodbye to her...

Last week I lost my big brother, Bubba. He was a diabetic (type 1), got Covid, was intubated and in a DKA coma for 17 days, which led to him contracting MRSA pneumonia while intubated. He passed as I was rounding the final corner to enter his room. Typical, as he always liked to have the last...

It's her favorite salted caramel hot chocolate. She made the right call. And you, sir... rabble-rouser!!

My "dire warning" was something to the effect of NO HOT CHOCOLATE after playing in the snow, and the thought of that was enough to get her to drop the snowball. Mama - 1, Lily 0.

I'm titling this photo 'Life Altering Choices'. Do you think she threw the snowball at me, or heeded my dire warning against it?

LUCKY!!! We get Lily to tolerate going hiking with us (our longest yet was a bit over 6 miles, and 800 feet elevation gain) by having her listen to Korean pop music (one earbud only, other ear open to hear her surroundings). If she complains while on the trail, no other electronic devices are...

It is an interesting age.... we never know what emotion we will experience from second to second. It is like going through emotional whiplash, to be honest. Does your granddaughter enjoy hiking?

Our family has taken up the hobby of hiking this year. It has helped with our physical, mental, and emotional health. (Lily hates it, though. But she's a hormonal tween girl, so not much of life makes her happy - except a Starbucks frappuccino!!) We live in a gorgeous area for hiking trails...

Long time no post! Merry Christmas, friends!! Lily is almost 12, and about an inch shorter than me. Crazy! She started middle school in the fall, and loves it - especially the social aspects. This is her first day of middle school photo. She looks so grown up to me. Not my baby girl anymore!!

A few months ago (beginning of 5th grade). She is almost as tall as me now!
