And I finally got this one together with a silk liner in sky blue, pale grey silk crown ribbon.
Still fudging the shape of the brim as an ongoing project .
Here’s some finish pics

Yes I understand your sentiment but I was wanting to duplicate my daily wearer for summer . I decided upon a 1/2 silk in pale grey that I’ve been saving. It goes really well with the color of this Resistol felt.
Here’s a getting ready to put the entire hat together after reshaping it yet again...
After steaming and shaping for the last two days I think I finally got it close to where I like the fit. This one is around a 60s vintage and felt is damn nice. It was a 3/8 so I resized it up to fit 1/2. Brim is s full 3 5/8 .
I’ve been looking for another wide brim to add for summer wear and I...
One of my favorite lounge customers (Doc) sent me this Vintage Homburg for a conversion to make into a fedora style hat. The Custom brand felt is different than most felts Of standard brands but it turned out to be suitable for the task.
Navy hats can be difficult to match the correct navy...
I came across this lovely vintage Mallory as a moth bitten divots (exterior) homburg and did a flip flop on the felt as it is super nice and thick enough felt to work.
Ended up with a 2 1/4 Brim with a wide black binding . Crown ribbon is original. And wind cord. Of course a new sweatband cut to...
Recent loungers hat for conversion from a thin ribbon to mid ribbon. Hat had hard cattle mans creases as well as numerous moth bites around crown along with fading so I pounced felt to try to even color out again while taking most of the moth damage out too. Not so easy with the original brittle...
Just looked through the owners manual signed in back purchased here in 1977 so I think it was original (1) owner bike. Also opened up tool roll which looks like new too.

Update: visited my bike today as it’s now made its way into the shop for its conversion. Here are some pics of where it is currently in the build. Super excited after not seeing it for several months, not to mention seeing more scratches and dirt now that it’s out of the dark barn but that’s ok...
Recent customer request to switch up the crown ribbon. The narrow navy blue pleated original ribbon was unique in that the pleats were stitched all the way around the ribbon. For the replacement ribbon I had this one last piece left in silver blue tone and fortunately matches the binding...
Wishing I were riding my bmeer somewhere anywhere but here today in our balmy -3.
Here’s a pic that inspired my current build.
I have the complete set up as the Black bike but my front end may have the triangle motor guard in chrome with a pair of fog lamps mounted somewhere near and mine also...
Well looks like I won’t be participating in the build so I won’t see the bike until March or April .
Here’s a recent pic without cheesy fairing.

Love those old vespas . I had a chance not long ago to buy a mint 1959 Black one but didn’t have the scratch at the time.

I used Deglazer by Feibing or similar. Very toxic smelling stuff but works great. Definitely recommend using outdoors.

Yes look forward to see if/how you change the knit collar . A fuller rolled leather collar would look ok I think and keep with the vibe of the original.

Thanks Bowen. Yes the BMW motorcycle has become my new mistress of sorts. I’ve collected a good cache of vintage pieces to fit it out and now is up to my mechanic and his fabricator to make it reality. I hope to get a video of the work if scheduling allows.
Cheers

Hi Bowen, Petersham ribbon is not something one sees too often on vintage hats and every time I have seen them or swapped out that petersham I always felt better for that . I see a good vintage quality grosgrain as offering a superior style or finish as far as aesthetics goes but again this is...
Just a quick conversion / Ribbon swap really and a light cleaning . Client wanted this one to have contrast with felt color and an upgrade from the cheesy petersham that was original to the hat.

I was going to wear it while working on my vintage BMW motorcycle resto this winter as it will be cold in the shop where will be working on it and I thought a little friendly shop grime would give it a nice patina! Ha,
