Looks like a very early fifties or late forties model based on that sweatband bow and hatband ribbon. I'd love to see the union label. (might be on the back on the size tag.) anybody got any thoughts?? :confused:

Brent - While it may not necessarily HAVE TO be the case, I find your statement to none the less be correct on some occasions. Usually when I get 7/8 of the way through a hat and make a mess of it, thus having to start over FROM SCRATCH. :(
I chuckled when I started reading through the thread. Firing is indeed a technique used to remove the long hairs from a hat body during the hat making process. Cody from Wellema has a video clip on his site showing him using the technique. When I interned at D Bar J hats some 20 years ago...

If you were my customer, I'd say no. The hat doesn't match the shape of your face. In my tag line, I say; "There's nothing worse than a great hat on the wrong head" And that is a great hat. Both a narrower crown with a bit of a taper and a narrower brim, or maybe just a turned up brim shape...
