    1920s suits

i think that the HS&M book is illustrating the higher waisted / higher-and-closer buttoning / longer skirted 'youthful' style such as this: ...your suit is leaning more to the 'conservative' side of things... not to take anything away from it at all. :)

    BRACES (SUSPENDERS)

braces by CH Guyot, circa late teens-early 20s. the ends are elastic, the straps are non-elastic: here's a 1907 ad: the style seems to have remained pretty much unchanged from 1900 - early 1920s so dating them accurately is tricky.

    Modern Day Style Icons

are there any modern (i.e. living) people who you think have a great sense of personal style ? they could be famous, semi-famous or not famous at all, and they don't have to wear vintage clothing. if you want to mention an actor it should be for what they wear in real life (i.e. their...

BOTH SIDES OF THE TWEED! - Show us your tweed suits, sport coats and pants

nice jacket TT. i'd go for a safe bet of mid-late 40s. the cutaway is reminiscent of some early 20s Brit jackets, but nothing else about the jacket suggests that date, so i think it's something of an anomaly. (i have a Selfridges jacket of near identical fabric, but i prefer yours as it's got...

    BRACES (SUSPENDERS)

'runner end' is what you've pictured above; 'runner' as in the end runs loosely through the leather tab/loop. they tend to be a tad more dressy than the other main style which is more often associated with 'work' braces and looks like this:

    What are you wearing today??

i'm a big fan of linens in muted colours (not the typical white / cream) for those cooler summer days.

stuff like that happens if you dry clean one and Oxyclean another... or never wash one and Oxyclean another. risky business.

look closer... same weave. an insider tells me he was spotted at the stall of Richard and Cosmo of Spitalfields fame (battered French workwear sellers to anyone unfamiliar) a few years ago.

i was wandering around the other day in a similar jacket and also wearing a white scarf. i wonder if anyone saw me and thought "wow he's nailed that Thomas Cohen look pretty quick !" ;) (mind you where i live that's distinctly unlikely.... but you get the idea).
