curious. outward facing pleats are a rarity in the UK in the 20s-40s.
it's possible that UK trousers started copying U.S. ones in the late 40s and 50s to be more 'up to date'. you see a big American influence in British clothing around that time.
i've just sold these trousers on ebay. they're unusual in that they have outward facing pleats which made me at first assume they were American, but the metal buckle is stamped 'British Made'. seems very unlikely that they would have been using imported British buckles in the US in the late 40s...

if young men also buy into the common idea that high waisted trousers aren't sexy it will put them off ever trying a pair, and also put off manufacturers considering them a viable option to make.

i think it's just a different kind of 'sexiness'. the tight butt & crotch, low-waisted trousers brought in by people like Jim Morrison and Robert Plant give off a very 'bad boy', unsubtle, type of raw sex appeal.

i imagine there's a lot of Germans who wouldn't feel comfortable about wearing any clothing of the 30s-40s because of associations with the bad-politics of the time.
this suit seems to pose a moral dilemma (for anyone small enough to fit into it). how do the Germans members feels about wearing a vintage suit with the ADEFA tag in it ?
