    Colditz

Just started re-watching the BBC TV series COLDITZ. For a flick actually made in the early seventies, it still holds up. Great story, good casting - and good to see that all germans are not shown as stupid robots or ice-cold nazis. (You can find both seasons on YouTube)

    Do you like contrasting knits?

Some will do anything just to blend in - others will do everything to stand out. lol lol Remember when I did my national service. We were handed a pair of not very smart, pale khaki, rubber soled gym shoes. With matching, pale khaki shoelaces. Know what I did? - I went through five different...

    Aero Pre-War Irvin - Revisited

Congratulations on a great Irvin jacket. Color looks good, fleece looks fantastic (and much better than the older ones from Aero) and I do like you're still having that no-use elastic band on the collar. Let me know, when you take it off. I did it a long time ago. ;)

    Do you like contrasting knits?

Got the cherry red on my new Aero Sealbrown - think it looks rather good.

WWII aviation artist - favourite picture?

Taylor is the champion of aviation art - I gladly admit that. But I also think this guy comes very close: Alex Hamilton - and I've got the print (with veteran signatures) hanging in my office. You can see more of this guys great work here: http://www.alexhamilton.net/content/home.htm

IRVIN SEASON OPEN! (Time to get it out Gents)

Just struck my mind: During WWII these Irvins were mass-produced at a price as low as you could get them. The aircrews did not pay anything to get them. Not in money at least. (There other price is something we can discuss later - or in another post) If you - to day - are the happy...

    New Aero Pre-War Irvin

Bartender: Isn't it possible to move this thread to the REPRO IRVIN thread. It would be nice to keep all the different info's on Irvin Repros, zippers etc. together at one place.

    New Aero Pre-War Irvin

Great look. Great fit. The zipper looks like a new repro of the Lightning used in some WWII Irvins. Or what?

It's looking good, Jon. Mine has developed the same worn surface. And of course with much better stitching!!! :) So happy for you, that you've got so many orders in the pipeline. After all the work and research you went through, you deserve it. And I still think your Irvins are the top of...

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

Hi, as far as I remember the wait time was 2 - 3 months. Mostly because Jon was waiting for delivery of the sheepskins. But call Jon and ask him, it all depends on how many orders he has. It's a one man company.

Just saw this, and it made me furious! WTF is wrong with people? Show some respect.

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

Hi Thor: Both are right. The Dot zips have the "brass look "and the Lightning zips has the nickel steel look. Both were used by different producers of Irvins during WWII. But it takes an expert like Andrew to tell which producers used which zippers! Try taking a stroll through the large and long...

Depending on the natural daylight - or use of flash or no flash (which I seldom use) my Irvin can also be everything from dark chocolate to slightly reddish.

Hi Jabos (and others) To help you decode between ELC and Aces High: Here's my Aces High after one year of use and misuse: Pictures taken with my iPhone - so bare with the quality. But I hope it helps. I can only add, that I have had several repros (2xALC, Aero, WPG) - but this is by...
