    Red Tails. Fact or Fiction?

Dark Blue World is a good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7aON-mLubI&spfreload=10 And then - of course - there is always Battle of Britain. Yes, I know - many flaws, rc model planes instead of real Stukas. Half aircrafts made of wood and plaster are blown up instead of real Spitfires...

    Anybody read this one?

Halfway through and I can only say: I am amused. It's a very good read. It sticks to the historic facts and you follow different persons - on both sides - from Battle of France and all the way through Battle of Britain. The author even mixes historical persons with fictional. And although the...

...and if I might add: I believe I've 'bout 15 books on my shelf about the Battle of Britain - covering all the months. Besides that I recon 'bout 10 - 12 books on different Squadrons during BoB. And finally 'bout 15 books covering individual personal stories from single pilots - both RAF and...

    Anybody read this one?

    Break Out the Board Games!

Just got hold of this vintage game: It's slow and it's great fun. Just wondering if the concept of this game could not - very easily - be transformed to a great strategic PC game. It's not a shooting game - but highly strategic.

Does washing/soaking leather jackets substantially harm them or weaken the leather?

I only kept the jacket 'bout half a year after the treatment, then it went to one of our distinguished members in the US of A. But I can only say, that it became a bit "hard and stiff" on the surface until I treated it with Peckards - AND started to use it a lot. After that it actually became...

AERO Irvin - brand new out of the box - before treatment: and after:

Does washing/soaking leather jackets substantially harm them or weaken the leather?

"wash it" or soak it in hot water first. Let it hang and dry - not near heating - and THEN apply Peckards. In a thin layer. Use your fingers to rub it in. And dry off whats left after some time with a cloth. That should do it. And then - as they say - wear it like you hate it!

ALL REPRO R.A.F. Irvin type jackets

Hi Golden, I guess I can answer your question, having done this on a repro Irvin (AERO) First of all you can se the visible difference on the pictures above. (The post with my different Irvins) There are before and after pictures - and the difference is pretty obvious! The fluffiness turns into...

Big J, the weight and stiffness of the Aces High was exactly, spot on like I remembered an old original I once tried on. Comfortably light and soft. While the Aero was somewhat stiff - especially the arms! - heavier and a slightly cumbersome. (But did softened up after some use. - although not...

    RAF Aircrew Boots

I only wish that Aero would start making them again. And get the vamp and the "saddle-stitches" right this time. But the ones from Lewis aren't too bad either. Not perfect. But close. And yes, Deacon - I think somebody IS trying to tell you something! :-)

Share and compare: To give any newcomers a chance to figure out which producers makes which Irvins, I just want to post some of the different Irvins I've owned on my way to the final one. My first Irvin was a very early Aviation Leather Craft (ALC) Bought way back in the seventies. Then I...
