    Akubra Campdraft

Fawn I need to take some photos, but I got a Fawn Campdraft delivered yesterday from HatsDirect. Another flawless transaction with them, puts me at four or five deals without a hitch with their company. I have been looking for an Open Road that works on me for years, but the Stetsons, both...

    New Hats Finally Arrive!Somewhat dissapointed.

Morgan Squatter Peter - Just an FYI, the Squatter available at David Morgan's has grommets on the sides. Not too obtrusive, but they're not that apparent in the photos, so it caught me by surprise. Otherwise, great hat. Good luck to you. Frank

    Wanted to buy: Vintage - 7 3/4

Whippet Wow, if that's my old Whippet, it's really gone up in value in a few months ;) Good luck CRM, vintage in that size has been hard to find, and those prices seem to keep going up. Frank

    Photos of your Pinnacle

Yeah Thanks for your concern Tom, but at my size, loose hats are not very common. Since the brim cutter I use leaves perfect circles of felt, I looped them together and use them as dog leashes. Frank

    Photos of your Pinnacle

Brim Measurement The brim ended up at about 1 5/8", and right now, it's bashed as a porkpie. If there's enough to work with, I'm thinking about having Major Moore bind the brim, maybe that will give it some body or snap. Good luck, Frank.

Buried with your hat on ?

recent experience Last March when my grandfather passed away, he was to be cremated. I tried to get his wife to send him off in his boots and his favorite hat, but she couldn't bear to part with them. His pure beaver Stetson hat still hangs on the back of his favorite chair, and she gave all...

    Fed IV size advice

Go one up I've found that GTD's advice is correct, my Fed IV has gone from roomy (and using the sizing strips) to just right in the last few months of use, steaming and re-bashing with spray bottle. You don't want to be stretching it all the time. Frank

SOLD Brand New Green Biltmore Straw 7 3/4

Just from the seller I re-packaged the hat to send out, so I don't have my own measurement, but the seller says 24 3/8, or a size 62. I'm more of a 24 5/8, so it's going to need some stretching to fit me, and I don't want the hassle of stretching it if someone else can use it at a good price...

SOLD Brand New Green Biltmore Straw 7 3/4

I can't return this eBay win, and the seller doesn't have anything else that will fit me, so I'm putting it out here. I opened it long enough to try it on, and it's just a hair too tight for me to mess with, as I'm closer to a 7 7/8. Good looking milan straw in a dark green, with tags still in...

The Indiana Jones jacket. Much hype, little substance?

I should have known better I saw some of the reviews here and elsewhere on the Todd's Costumes Coyle's Indy Jacket (Standard), and decided I could afford $150, so I took a shot. The results: disappointing. I remembered reading somewhere one negative review of this jacket as a "leather...

Help HMH Pick His Summer Fedora(please)

Stetson If you're okay with stingy, I really like my Stetson Milan Latte straw. The bound brim took some getting used to, but it's a good shape, and soft. It also has a cloth sweatband that is very comfortable. I've got others, but I seem to be wearing this the most when it's hot. I've even...

    Installing A Chin Strap

Cotter pins For everyday use, in nothing more than a good stiff breeze now and then, the cotter pin method is fine. I've used them in cowboy hats many times, with no extra discomfort at all. You just make sure the cotter pin slides (when together) in between stitches, then bend it down even...

    NEW 2010 Stetson Whippet

Stetson Shantung I saw this straw Whippet and was also pretty excited until I saw "Shantung." In my experience with Stetson's Shantung straw hats, they are stiff, break easily and don't take to much shaping. I wish they had offered this in their Milan Straw, which is fairly soft and workable...

    Felt hat basics

I'm a rebel I like to live on the edge, so I just use straight tap water in a clean spray bottle that's never had anything else living in it. Where I live our water wins national and international prizes for its taste and purity. Tastes just like water! I haven't had any adverse effects yet...

    The Akubra Squatter

Stylemaster/Squatter I've owned both, and the crown sure seemed different to me. I couldn't get the Stylemaster bashed in any shape tall enough to suit me, but the Squatter had a bit more crown to work with. I'd have kept the Squatter, but it was a David Morgan grommet model, and the grommets...

    Homburg Nation

New Beaver Brand Homburg Doesn't hold a candle to the fine vintage homburgs on this thread, but for under $100, made in the U.S., it's a pretty good hat. HatsPlus has them on sale for dirt cheap right now. I got the Charbrown, which was the only darker color available in 7 3/4. It's a...

    The Pinnacle

Like to see the Benchley Sorry for the hijack, but I'd love to see photos of that Benchley. It looked great online. I'm not ready to give up on Stetson yet, but I am discouraged. Thanks, Frank

    The Pinnacle

It's not just you. Jim, I had the same issues with the Pinnacle I purchased, but wasn't sure if it was because it was an outlet hat. The brim was a wavy, curly mess, which was not really cured by cutting it down as I did. I've tried felt stiffener, steaming, even ironing, to no avail. It's a...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I'll be doing more business with the Major I was really happy with the work, his rates, and with his communication. My hat had a hard journey to his neck of the woods, and UPS had to turn back due to icy roads twice, but he got it done quickly and was always in touch, no matter what was going...

BUCKAROO BONANZA! - The Hats that Major Mike Moore Makes

No Campdraft in 63 Yeah, just like a Campdraft, except it doesn't come in this color, or in my size for under 3 month wait. Also, different brim specs, but yeah, you are right, just like a Campdraft....in a different hat. Feel free to PM Major Moore for pricing. Thanks, Frank
