I'm not an expert on it, but it looks like a transition from lindy to East Coast. The main dancers are doing lindy; the dancers in the background look more like they're doing East Coast. Most of the dancers are upright and some of them look like they lack enough tension in the connection to do a...
I would call this lindy at 1:23 and at 2:00. There are also some solo dancers doing some old jazz moves in a routine we now call the Big Apple at 1:12 and 1:38. I think I even saw the twist in there at 1:18. The rest of it looks like East Coast (jitterbug).
I could be wrong, but I don't...
Next time I visit my aunt in California I'll check out the Cicada Club.
My FL friends can PM me if they're ever in Denver to visit a funky little place called the Mercury Cafe. Awesome dancing there.
OK, kidding aside, I go out about once a week, which is a lot more than I entertain at home. I'd try the Cicada Club for the dancing if I lived close to it, assuming it has a nice clientele and good dance partners there. I'm a dancer, not a drinker. I can stay out until 11:00 now and then, but I...
Pity us poor, dull people who talk to our friends and meet people without the excitement of shouting over noise, paying $6 for drinks, getting along on three hours' sleep or telling rude drunks to shove off. Not that there's anything wrong with that if it floats your boat.
That pretty much describes what was billed as lindy hop on DWTS. Most of the people on the show--judges included--didn't know the lindy hop from the turkey trot.
Kim and David visited a lindy hop club and ended up doing a lot of Charleston with some aerials. That should have been the...
Yeah, somebody must be willing to pay that if the posters are selling. Probably somebody with a lot of money decorating their daughter's room.
Besides, you get a free random movie poster gift with it. And the shipping is free.

Good luck, happy searching, and welcome!
I never said nobody did lindy in the 50s. I'm sure people did it in the 90s to hip hop as well. My objection (one of them) is that lindy was made out to be a 50s rock-and-roll dance. As much as Goodman harps on doing a proper fox trot or waltz or Latin dance, I would have hoped he'd apply the...
There was a period of several months after a car wreck a few years ago when the only comfortable position for me was ramrod straight. (Not that I recommend this means of improving posture.)
The roots of lindy go back to Africa. (Again, I'm repeating what Dan and Tiff said; I've never done any research myself.) I don't think they're saying that people were doing the lindy in the 1800s. :)
