    Interesting Idea

To find your best colors, try this site: http://trepanrr.tripod.com/defining_your_season.htm For skirts, get a skirt in a neutral color that fits your hips and have the waist taken in (or vice versa). If modern skirts ride too low, try a vintage store.

The Elements of (not so good) Style

^ "...it takes the generality of writers forever..." Isn't "takes forever" a cliche? "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars"? I think the metaphor comparing clothing accessories to words is something a lot of her male readers probably can't...

For the Guys too-Dancing:What to wear, what to bring...

I used the advanced search function, typed "dance" and selected "thread titles." My take on what to wear: I wear a cotton skirt, t-shirt and plain, sueded tennis shoes I bought from my teacher.

"Lindy Hop" on Dancing with the Stars

If you do a search for "dance" in the thead titles, you'll find some threads on what to wear. Sorry, I can't think of anything special to consider for a balboa dance. In any case, I'd leave the high heels at home. If they dress there as they do here, most folks will be in jeans and t-shirts.

Gentlemen what is the ideal lady for you?

^ Yes. There's always PM if you want to discuss something off topic.

When does a gentleman fight back?

A gentlemanly phrase like "Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?" might get a better reaction. :)

When does a gentleman fight back?

There could be something unintentional in your manner that brings out ill feeling in some people. Joining a Toastmasters club to get some friendly feedback on how you are perceived is something you might find helpful.

When does a gentleman fight back?

Yes. Learning to deal with crazies takes time, but it's worthwhile.

When does a gentleman fight back?

Lear, the woman who attacked you might have been drunk, high or mentally ill. It's unclear how many men are assaulted by women, but like you, hardly any of them report it to the police.:( At 6'-2", you have the advantage of a good reach. Perhaps you could hold back a shorter person or learn...

Films you EXPECTED to be horrible...but weren't!

Dumb and Dumber. The movie explored, broadly and deeply, the condition of being stupid. Swing Kids. Dance movies almost always stink; this one didn't. Yankee Doodle Dandy. I detest most musicals, but I like Cagney.

    Interesting Idea

Yes, it's a good system This is exactly how I've built my work wardrobe, as far as colors go. My four colors are tan, dark brown, navy and gray. Mostly, I wear white tops. Men's suiting colors work well for the office. If you do that, red is a good accent color, and oxblood shoes will go...

The Elements of (not so good) Style

It's been a long time since I read Elements of Style, but I recall that White suggests learning the basics before writing in a more complicated or unusual style. I believe that's what the book was supposed to be: a guide to basic writing. A lot of professional writers would do well to take...

Ugh, I uncapitalize words like those all day long. (Except when a document refers to a specific bank, which we leave capitalized.)

    Elle's No Makeup Issue

Part of it is probably good lighting. Warm colored, diffused lighting from a couple of good angles, and a photographer who can make the models feel happy and relaxed, makes a lot of difference. I think Von Teese looks great. In fact, I prefer the natural look on her to the heavy makeup she...

    Elle's No Makeup Issue

OK, I'm not sure what the point of the no-obvious-makeup look was. Isn't it more encouraging to think that you can look better with makeup than to think you need great skin and features to be beautiful?

    Elle's No Makeup Issue

Less photoshopping might help bring readers' ideas of realistic bodies and skin back to reality. I'm not sure what the point of having the models wear no makeup was, though, other than to get publicity.
