Deep breath ($$$)....
I upgraded:
Brown: Chester Jefferies / Peccary - cashmere lining

Black: Dents / Deerskin - cashmere lining

After you get over the sticker shock (try to buy on sale), they're...
Shavemac makes terrific build-from-scratch brushes. Owner Bernd Blos is very accomodating.
Here are the specs for mine, which has plenty of backbone:
SHAVEMAC
23 mm Silvertip D01
Knot Shape: Fan Shape
Hair length ( Loft): 50 mm
Shape:102
- I would also recommend a Rooney 3/1 Super Silvertip...
When I looked for an A-2 in 2014, my final contenders included the Rough Wear 27752 (circa 1942) and RW 1401 (1941) contracts. I was under the impression their fit was similar, with different leather colors and zippers - seal brown/talon for the 27752 vs russet/crown for the 1401, generally...
Just to compare, I am delighted with my Dustbowl in black goatskin, olive drab stitching and moleskin lining.
My preference, at least for me, is that the FQHH is generally more suited to jackets like the Teamster (although Aero's goat is lovely in any style).
That Dehen Stalwart looks robust!
I considered the double cape jac shirt (zip) in Adirondack by Johnson Woolen Mills :

But went with Bemidji (buttons) and the Voyageurs Jac Coat...
I apologize, and did not want to disrespect Woolrich and/or Pendleton.
Most of Woolrich's (which sports the tagline, "The original outdoor company" ) garments are manufactured abroad. As examples, a Woolrich hunt coat and its classic, the regular buffalo check shirt, are imported.
Its domestic...
Yes, absolutely. The folks at Bemidji are terrific, and they make a solid product, in Minnesota. I have a Voyageurs Jac Coat in gray Adirondack pin-stripe - 30 oz, 85/15% wool/nylon.
So are the Vermonters at Johnson Woolen Mills.
I have Buffalo Check wool shirts from each.
Form follows function with the Teamster back. I would retain the original design, especially if in the heavier FQHH. The Vincenza would obviously be more pliable, though.
On my Dustbowl, I have the back gussets stitched down, and that added touch wears and works well.
Friends:
My post was genuinely an attempt to figure out the best method of repairing the Teamster - NOT to agitate Thurston Bros or Aero - or complain about workmanship ( in case anyone interpreted it that way). I just wanted the jacket mended - and looked for advice on how to approach a repair...
While I am pleased with my Teamster FQHH (purchased in late 2014), I need to shore up the football-style buttons sooner than I anticipated.:
My question(s) to the class:
It has concealed backer buttons between two layers of hide. I would imagine the repair shop will have to unstitch the...
Wow. Thanks for a fond trip down memory lane.
I was some years ahead of you in obtaining my first leather from Walter Dyer (which makes me ancient!) - but I recall going to a shop of his - either in Harvard Square or Charles Street in Boston...
At the time, circa 1974, my high school buddies...
Has anyone checked out Berk or Drakes shawl 4-ply cashmere cardigans for comparison purposes? Or anything similar?
How about multi-ply lambswool from a different maker?
I'm thinking Steve McQueen blue or grey goes with everything.
(As per my usual, my tastes do not align with my finances...)
I have a FQHH Teamster with the Alpaca wool lining, and cotton drill sleeves, and find it's OK in temperatures (give or take) down to around 30 F (-1C), with proper layering.
My goatskin Dustbowl has moleskin lining, with cotton drill sleeves, for temps generally in the mid-40's.
Above the...
Here you go...
When you reach out to Charles, you will find him well versed with fit issues, and responsive to your questions.
P.S. The Avatar photo is my Teamster.
Hello:
I have a lovely Rough Wear 27752 A-2 contract from Eastman.
At about 5' 8" and 165 pounds (fairly athletic build), the size 42 fits me well, especially in the shoulders and body. It's slightly long in the arms (my shirt-sleeve length is 32/33). Discerning connoisseurs would point to...
I think my 1950's button up Teamster with the button cuffs looks splendid, but also wonder whether the intent of the LHB with zip and American cuffs was a slightly more modern look.:
I don't know if this is a fair comparison, but my Dustbowl, like the Original Hercules, is...
Yours was certainly a solid template from which to work...

- MyDustbowl has a standard Talon main zipper (not Hookless).
- OD green stitching throughout.

- No top chest pocket.
- Black moleskin lining and pockets.
- Cotton Drill sleeves.
- Stitched down...
