I agree with Lizzie. Had the Russians captured him, I think it highly unlikely that he would've survived to see a trial, and would likely have been killed, either by his own hand, or by those of the Russians.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that Churchill wanted the Yanks to bring over one...
It is indeed, a collar-bar. I've got some of that exact style in my jewellery box. they're worn in the manner as shown in the photograph in dh66's post.
I should point out that unusual names have been part of culture for centuries. If you bother reading texts from the Middle Ages, the 1800s or the 16/1700s, you'll find loads of strange and odd names.
This stuff occasionally pops up and people post links here. Here's another one. I don't think anyone else has posted *this* particular one. Anyway, enjoy:

Would Japan have invaded the rest of Asia? Possibly. That's if the Allies didn't act fast enough to bolster up colonial defenses...
Japan attacked America to try and knock out its naval force so that it could invade Southeast Asia unopposed by another major regional power. I think Pearl Harbor may still have gone ahead, since it wasn't related to the War in Europe.
I was hoping to have something meaningful to say about this 'what if...' scenario. But I'm now feeling that my contributions will be mediocre at best. I'm only a humble History major. Please don't shoot me.
I agree with those who say that removing HITLER from the equation would not prevent...
