    Show us your match cases!

I think match-cases/match-safes/vesta-cases are among the coolest antique/vintage trinkets in the world. And I can see why people collect them. One day if I can find one I like, I may buy one. So far, nothing I've seen has really impressed me. Also, they're not that practical with modern...

    Anybody Else Collect Sewing Machines?

I've carried sewing machines home from as near as Singapore, to as far away as London. I know what a struggle it can be to get them home!

    Vintage Fountain Pen repair

If it's a simple matter of adjusting ink-flow, you can easily do that yourself. Just pinch the tines of the nib together to close the gap and make it write drier. The consequence is inky fingers, but it does work. I've done it many times myself.

    Good strong everyday bag?

Bloody hell! It sounds like what you want might be one of those old canvas or strong cloth duffel-bags. Something like this: This is the biggest bag produced by Saddleback Leather. I've had no dealings with the company, but their stuff seems to be very good quality. I've never had to...

    Anybody Else Collect Sewing Machines?

Haha!! Yes we must indeed. I love my brown wingtip Florsheims. Not a sewing machine, but this is my new Singer 27-series puzzle-box. Here it is closed up: Lid open: Split down the middle: All open: A home for my bobbins, at last!: Hopefully, one day I'll find the...

    Show us your waistcoats/Vests?

Two latest additions purchased in the last couple of days. The first one is a grey pinstriped affair. I wish I didn't have to buy this one, but I used to have another grey pinstriped waistcoat that was devoured by moths. So this one is being purchased as a replacement for the one I no-longer...

What will this bag be used for? You want leather or canvas? Stylish/classy/ic, or rugged?

    Ascots

There's nothing there remotely navy blue. I wish I had one, but I don't. Here's the new cravat: The pattern was so cute and interesting, I had to throw in a closeup:

I've seen Empire of the Sun & Shanghai. I enjoyed both very much (although Empire was very long, from what I remember).

    Coldest Weather I've been in

Melbourne trams and trains shutting down in hot weather is nothing new. It's been happening for years. The moment the mercury goes above 35, you better start loving shoes. Because that's the only way you'll get anywhere without a car once the trains stop. As someone who relies heavily on...
