I threw my vintage suit in the washing machine

I've washed a couple of old tweed jackets in the bath just recently. Used a mix of hand-washing powder and machine powder, with luke-warm water and then rinse with cold. They both came out great, with a bit of a press. They were jackets I picked up cheap, and were pretty mucky (I think the guy...

Could they be some sort of galoshes?

    1920s suits

Though I'd add a few of my own that I posted in that other thread if that's OK :). I love this one. The fairly rare butterfly collar on this gent.

    1920s suits

Great pics HBK. I love the one of those fellows outside the tent with their sleeves rolled up. Also, lots of white shoes and trousers, paired with open collars. Must have been a popular look indeed.

A couple of Derbyshire cowboys eh? 'Yeehaw, me duck!'

It's nice to have that association I think. As a little kid, I always used to like to dress up smart, and my mum and auntie used to buy me those ties on elastic to wear. I'd slick my hair down and pretend I was a soldier or something. Fun times. I'm more than happy to do a swap tropicalbob for...

Lovely, and in the best colours, you ask me. Grenville made great ties, and I think they seem to have a distinctive shape over others. I'm glad this thread is coming up with the gold! I love me some plaid ties!

    What are you wearing today??

Not usually one for denim myself, but that jacket is very nice, and the whole outfit suits you very well indeed. A classically 'American' style pulled off skilfully.

    What are you wearing today??

Super duper! I often wear a dark-grey or blue shirt with a lighter tie, but I go for red mostly. Very nice indeed HBK. That jacket, is it denim?

Cheers gents. I'm definitely gonna use them as a good reference point for casual-wear. Although I still don't think I could bring myself to go open-collar.

    Show us your TIES

Thanks for the compliments on the Arrow Tie gents. BobHufford - great tie rack. A really nice way of displaying them. Dh66 - that purple bird tie is nice. Somehow the 'ghost' pattern and printed pattern don't seem to match though! Like you say, it overpowers a bit! Great example though...

Thanks Metatron. I'm going to try and replicate that look sometime I think! They were a bundle of about 200 I picked up on Ebay cheap. These were the best out of them. If I get time I shall post them over at the Suits thread.

...Continued. Open-collar, blazer and white trousers and shoes. A nice look. I think the fellow is a youngster. I can't really tell what the guy on the left is either doing, or wearing. A few nice suits on this snap. Clearly the guy on the left has just turned up from a round of golf or...
