Collection of photographs of British men, c.1900-1960. Suits, trousers, shoes etc.

...Continued. I think this look is smashing. Very nice flecked tweed jacket too. Bit of an odd jacket for the fifties, but I don't think it could be from any later or earlier. Casual open-collar look for the older gent. Absolutely smashing trousers. I think the whole look is very nice...

Collection of photographs of British men, c.1900-1960. Suits, trousers, shoes etc.

Hello all, Came across this collection of photo's the other week, and they're really quite interesting. I really like to see photo's of real people wearing clothes, rather than movie stars or catalogue illustrations. Apologies if they're a bit fuzzy, they are just amateur snaps after all. I...

Bob Hufford - that's a fun tie! You'll always have the smell of bacon under your nose! Bamaboots - nice haul. And I'll echo dh66's sentiments that it's always nice to have a bit of local history attached to your tie. Here's one to interest you Americans - an Arrow tie. I don't really know the...

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

Latest haul: My first ever 'Grey Quality' ties. The red one has been knocking about on Ebay for a while and TT showed it to me. I messaged the buyer and managed to get the price down from the listing. Then about two days later the silver one came up at a drastically cheaper price, so I snapped...

    What are you wearing today??

I've never done the neckerchief thing myself, but it looks great on you Metatron. Suits you well.

    DIY collar bars

Yeh, all you need to do is just gradually work the pin through rather than just pushing it in hard. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

    The Moustache

I've had a beard before, and a brief moustache for a day or so when the beard came off. I just want to try it out really. I'll give it a go when Movember comes around again. At least then if it looks foolish it's for charity.

BobHufford - sorry I missed your post. Thanks for showing me. I've got this horrible springy Nylon one you see. My other knits are lovely, but I never seem to wear them for some reason. The Good - I get your points, but I'm not so optimistic on the fate of the tie. I think it will be all but...

I think that's the 1970s/1980s label in there. Perfectly nice styling though. And the colours are fantastic. Nice find! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Very true. It's usually a mixture of factors. Eventually spotting them becomes so second nature that you can see them a mile off, without having to double check. Things can always surprise you though. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Cool thanks for the details. Tebilized is a process for non-creasing. Found on the British brand Tootal - but those aren't Tootal . If you ever get tired of them I'd be happy to buy them off you, or do a swap ;) You're getting good at spotting the vintage ones now RetroS! :) Sent from my...

Retro S - brilliant finds. Those Tebilized ones are really great. I have one the same label different pattern. Do yours have a course texture to them? BobH - nice! Is that knit in nylon? Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Thanks HBK. I reckon I'll have to wait until Movember before I can legitimately grow one...and then just keep it.

Very cool Dale. And sounds as if you're studies were pretty interesting! I did a module on 20thC American history - really fascinating. That's a great piece of US history to wear around your neck - not many folks can boast that! Gotta love those guys with the shorty ties!

Haha thanks Rudie - I'll give it a go.
