Daniele, that "Mohairette" is very unique. What a great mix of colors. Makes me want to give wool hats more respect. Mayser has also shown some great vintage wools.

This afternoon I went to pick up my new perscription sunglasses and wore a grey Stetson Playboy
Akubra's have a reputation for shrinking a little, especially the Imperial grade. So, yes, most likely you'd be happier with the larger size. I wouldn't go bigger than the 7 3/8 though, they don't shrink that much
Doc, they don't ride any higher than any other hat. To me, that's the way a hat is supposed to fit. If it's lower, touching my ears, then it is too big. I like a hat to sit about a fingers width above the ears to allow room to tilt to the side or back or both. This is subjective and depends...

Alan, the liner does have the same un-yellowed ivory color and rich purplish blue colors in the logo so I'm sure it's just as you say, another variation. Yes, both have the same decorative stitch.

Today I'm a happy camper as I got my second vintage Playboy, this one in a light grey;
it needed a little steam, brushing and a little ironing out the wavy brim on the flange
This one is a later model, somewhere in the 50's I'd guess

From a collector standpoint, big brims and tall crowns are where it's at. And folks like me who want the big brims to shield from the elements
Seriously, I feel that way about cars. Love them, love the big car show in NYC, go every year. Go with my father to antique car shows and swap meets. Had the same Jeep for 15 years. Little interest in getting a new car
